Common causes of dehydration include not only multiple episodes of diarrhea or vomiting, and fever and resulting perspiration; they also include failure to drink adequate amounts of fluids especially during hot weather or prolonged exercise.

Dehydration causes transitory insulin resistance (your body becomes more insensitive to insulin).
During periods of dehydration, blood sugar will tend to rise.  This in turn, causes further dehydration as your kidneys attempt to unload glucose and ketones by producing large amounts of urine.
Increased dehydration causes higher blood sugars, which in turn cause further dehydration.

Before going outdoors always apply a sunblock with SPF45 minimum that includes UVA/UVB broad spectrum protection. If you're fair skinned limit your exposure. Don't try to get tanned all at once. Getting sunburned can lead to melanoma.
