Sounds like a good plan! Be sure to update us, I'd like to see your progress!
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your help!
My recent semi annual A1c revealed a 6.1 number, down from Mays 6.4.
The progress has encouraged me. After researching nutritional aids to assist in controlling blood sugar I found several references that the spice cinnamon has been shown to have a positive affect as well as the mineral magnesium.
I started adding both of these to my diet a month before my test.
These additions may have helped. I continue to watch my diet carefully!
Thanks again for your thoughtful reply
Talk with your doctor, like you planned, but I don't think it's unreasonable to test a little more to get a better picture of how certain foods are affecting your blood sugar. Changing your diet to include all of the different types of sugars and carbs can be complicated. Maybe ask the doc for a nutritional referral, a dietician may be able to better help you figure this out.
BTW, congrats on all you've done thus far! Way to go! The weight loss is a nice start, and your dedication is commendable!
Let us know what the doc says okay?
Sorry, not changing my diet drastically.
I have gestational diabetes and I have "experimented" with foods and testing my blood sugars afterwards to see the effects. I have gotten my numbers down without medications and changing my diet drastically. For example, adding a pat of butter to my food has lowered my breakfast numbers. Adding a fiber supplement.
