Metformin, delayed side effects?

Hello, I started taking Metformin in late July for high testosterone and an A1c of 5.8. (Endocrinologist said I had PCOS). I gradually built up to the full 2000 mg XR week by week. I didn't have many side effects from the medication at all. (Despite knowing several friends and a family member who had awful gastro issues).
However, recently, I experienced the metallic taste and am suffering bad gastro side effects 3 months afterwards.
Is it possible to have side effects from medication delayed ----instead of immediate side effects?
I haven't switched pharmacy and the manufacture is still sando.
Any advice or feedback? I'd be quite grateful.

Hello,

side effects of metformin typically start immediately, not delayed by 3 months, and tend to get less over time.

I would think you may have a stomach bug or some other condition unrelated to the metformin.

Hope you feel better soon.
