Thanks for using the forum.

There is no set relationship between calorie and insulin. Everybody responds differently. It is all related to how your body responds to the insulin and the food intake. How your body metabolizes protein, fats, and carbohydrates varies. A specific diet and insulin dose should be tailored to your body's needs.

It is important to prevent your blood glucose from spiking high and falling low. To do this I would recommend working with your doctor to tailor a dose and diet that works for you.

Most people do it by gr of carbs to insulin (I/C ratio)

Ive herd of 1 person on another board that uses calories... but he always eats a constant calorie/carb/protien/fat  meal

Anyways, the ratio is different for each person.  I have NO idea how to make a mix insulin work.  Every time you take a shot you get 30% R insulin and 70% NPH  Or both a fast insulin and a slow insulin mixed together.

most people find a true basal/bolus insulin regeame is easy and provides better control for you only take the type of insulin you need to do the job.  basal for 24 hour background insulin and a rapid (bolus) for eating and to bring down high BG.
