I can not get enough sleep

I can not get enough sleep

I have recently been diagnoised with Type 2 diabeties  and I have been taking Metformin for 3 weeks now.  There is not enough time in the day for me to sleep.  That is all I want to do.  I stay so tired and I could just sleep and sleep. Every time I turn around I am lying down taking a nap.  Is there any hope?  I am so tired of feeling this way.

Hi,
How are your blood sugars running? Poorly controlled diabetes with high glucoses make people very sleepy and run down, but this will get better as your diabetes comes under control. Make sure that you stay hydrated, and if you feel nauseated at all contact your doctor to make sure this is not a side effect of the metformin.

There are  other things to consider: thyroid disease, anemia and sleep apnea are comon causes of fatigue, so also discuss those with your doctor.

Take care.
