My mom has been in hosp for last four days on isulin pump. She has type2 and lung cancer. Chemo usually makes her sugar run high, but only for a couple days. She has a very bad sinus infection now. Could this be the reason why her sugar levels are running so high? Also, she has kidney disease, but not yet on dialysis. Please help!
Infections certainly do make your blood sugars do strange things, most often run very high. The combination of the chemo, being ill and an ongoing infection can make it difficult to control those glucose levels and often an insulin pump is best.
I hope everything gets back on course, take care.
