i have a three year old daughter and i took her blood suger today cause she has been really thirsty latley and has been eating a lot more i know she is growing and also she is going to the bathroom alot i was wondering what is a normal reading for kids hers was 140 i wanted toknow if that was good or okay for her age

Hi,
For everyone without diabetes, regardless of what you drank or ate, your blood sugars should stay within a normal limit. The idea that sugary foods and drinks will raise your blood sugars above normal(in people without diabetes or other glucose abnormalities) is false, so it should not matter what your daughter ate or drank before you  tested.The only thing to know is: was it fasting or sometime after eating or drinking something.
The value that you got would not be considered diabetic IF after eating or drinking. If it was fasting, then there should be some follow up testing done. Given your daughter's recent symptoms of thirst, I think you should schedule an appointment with her doctor to have a thorough exam and possibly some lab tests done soon.In the meantime make sure she keeps up on her fluids(water is generally best)

In re: to your daughters sugar level.  What were the circumstances?  When had she last eaten?  Was she ill?  How much water does she drink on a daily basis?  Before you noticed she was really thirsty - what was her drinking pattern and WHAT was she drinking?  Did she get enough water?  Did she usually only drink juice and milk?  
Children's BG levels are the same as adults.  The ADA and ACE differ on what those should be, however.
