lantus

I take 250u of lantus in the AM and my blood sugar is still over 200.  It stays high most of the day.  Would changing to Levemir an option or should I try splitting my dose of lantus?  My doctor thinks that taking once a day should work, but it isn't.  I was also told that taking this much insulin is very rare.  Is this true?

what about trying the Lantus at night?  I take Lantus in the AM as well but only because of fear of bottoming out at night (I doubt that I would but I have GAD and it keeps me in a constant state of anxiety worrying about it so they told me to take it in AM)  The manufacturers directions actually state to take it in the PM with dinner.  Talk to your doctor about it - it might help...
