Can you develop diabetes while pregnant? If  possible can it go away after you have the baby?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

Yes, diabetes that develops during pregnancy is called gestational diabetes.  Gestational diabetes requires close monitoring throughout your pregnancy.  Typically, once you deliver, the diabetes resolves.  However, immediately after delivery your doctor will monitor your blood sugars and your baby's blood sugar.  Good luck.
