type two diabetes

my question is that do i have to use insulin later on my pregnancy....im six weeks now and im using metformin... my  internal medicine doc told that it was ok to use metformin if my sugar levels are ok...but my gynycologist told that even if my sugar levels are ok i have to use insulin later on....

You should be able to continue with the metformin as long as your sugars remain well controlled. As your pregnancy progresses, however, you may find that your sugars are more volatile and cannot be controlled without insulin. It is important for your health and that of your baby that your blood sugar remains controlled.

I would recommend that you monitor your sugars and keep your doctors informed so that they can help you manage your diabetes as your pregnancy progresses.

Hi Fazna!  Congratulations to the soon to be mom.  Are you diabetic even before the pregnancy or was it just your sugar went high when you got pregnant?

Everybody is different if your BG goes to high the you will need insulin. its not as bad as you think, there is Very very little pain with insulin.
