Abdomen bloating and flatulence

Hello,

My name is sunil and 27 years old. I have high flatulence for past three years. Main problem is sometimes flatulence is not controllable. Gas escapes in small quantities and I can feel it most of the times. Most of the time I have buring sensation in anus and feels uncomfortable. Feels like some thing there in anus.

Gas formation seems to in abdomen. Some times I have bloating in abdomen and it is relieved by passing gas or stool. I have sometimes burning senation in my stomach. This happens only if stomach is empty and it is releived by taking food.

Most of the types of food causes this problem. For some types food it will be very high (milk, most of the vegetables). Tried avoiding cetain food items and could notice reduction in flatulence.

For past three years I am trying to find the reason for this.
1. I have undergone endoscopy trice in past three years. All was reported normal.
2. I have undergone colonoscopy twice and it was reported as normal.
3. Did scanning twice and no problems related to stomach or abdomen was found.
4. In one scanning absence of right kidney was noticed.
5. Have taken many medicines according to the prescription from gastroentrologists. Mainly antacids, digestive encymes and acid inhibitors.
6. Undergone helicobacteria tripple therapy.
7. Ring worms were found in my stool and it was treated.

Most of thge medicines which I took did not help me to reduce flatulence.

This became a disability for me since I can not concentrate on by work. Escape of small quantities of gas as flatulence gives a bad smell. So it became very difficult sit and work in common environment. Comments from others and expressions from others make you to run away from work place.

Would you please advice about
1. How can I go ahead in treating this.
2. How can I manage the escape of small quantities of gas?
3. How can I reduce this gas formation?

Regards,
Sunil

I noticed a forum submission that I was hoping to an answer for as it almost perfectly describes my situation----  Please read through and answer with you advise for both Huges and mylself.

------------------------

I am a 39 year old male with a problem:

One day (about 3 months) ago, I went to have a meal at a restaurant.
The next day, I had cramps and some heavy duty diarrhea. Nothing to worry about really, or so I thought.
Since that day, I have been having the following symptoms after every single meal (whether I eat a soup or a medium size pizza):

- Heavy bloating (bloating seems to be relieved by passing gas either by belching or farting)
- Some tenderness all over the gut area especially on the left side where the stomach sits
- Feeling that some fluid (liquid or gas, probably gas) moves around (gurgling noises)
- Some actual distention of the belly (I am not sure about that but it sure feels that way, maybe some fluid retention ?)

These symptoms usually start after I eat and last up to 5-6 hours.

My bowel movements look quite normal. Same as they ever were.
No diarrhea.
No dark stool.
My weight has not changed.

So far, I have had a blood test and a biopsy somewhere below the stomach to rule out Celiac disease.
I also had the X-ray of the upper GI done earlier, which revealed nothing.
The endoscopy that was performed for the biopsy did not reveal anything abnormal in the stomach.

Any advice that could help me or the original poster ?
Any feedback Sarah ?

Well, I wish you all the best.

Thanks for reading,

Hello~

I was reading your posts and all the posting back to you was
very informative.  Although, I do feel that the responses on
a lot of these Forums from the 'Doctor's' are extremely short and repetitive from one question site to the other when we have to pay to ask a question.  Sorry, I just had to get that in.
The reason being is I have a very important question to ask but I certainly don't want to hear back a two line response on something I may already know. Nothing personal to anyone but that's how I feel. I think this site is great but I am hesitant to post my questions.  There is a lady named Sandra, I think it is, and I don't know if she is a Nurse or what, but her responses back are so informative and you can tell that she puts quite a bit of thought to her replies to everyone.  I wouldn't mind posting to her and paying for questions that I desperately need answers to.  Ok, on to other things.............You!

I wanted to ask you, in regards to your own personal situation,
is it possible that you may have a hernia somewhere inside of you?  Has that been evaluated yet?  It should and there are ways of doing so.  I know from personal experience that with a hernia there is a uncontrolable gas problem that just cannot be helped.  It's not your fault no matter how hard you try to 'not let that escape from you ' but it will indeed.  Some of my friends and family members have had abdominal wall hernia's, such as I have, and had a great problem with that.  From sitting to standing, gas, gas, gas, and a terribly awful, more than usual
smell would accompany this.  Just walking or moving your physical position, gas follows.  The worse the hernia, the worse the gas and amount of it, is what we have all surmised.

This is just a thought and maybe you can check into this~

I hope that we all hear back from you on how things are going
and what the latest is with your Doctor.

Take care and hope you will be over this very soon ~

You may be lactose intolerant which is easily controlled with over the counter remedies such as Lactaid. Use with the first bite of any food containing dairy.

Another product is Beano which helps break down the sugars in fruits and vegetables. You may also have an intolerance to fructose.

Good luck!

to reduce gas,you can try over the counter GAS-X or EXTRA STRENGTH GAS -X,chewing gum will create more saliva which contains bicarbonate,it will neutralise gas in your stomach, but they dont solve the problem why you have so much gas ??
You mentioned taking hector pylori triple therapy?is that Prev pack ?
these medication contain antibiotics which could alter your body flora and wipe out the good bacteria needed to counter yeast overgrowth,if so,you need to add live culture back by taking yogurt which contain live culture or tablets containing that friendly bacteria .
or you may have a case of lactose intolerance where you body lacks the enzyme to digest milk sugar called lactose.
Vegetables are hard to digest, you can drink cranberry juice to raise stomach acid level to help digestion.
You have to find out whether you have a case of too much stomach acid or too little acid.

Treatment and reduction of the gas formation would depend on the cause.

Chronic pancreatitis is one possibility - although the imaging studies you have had may have suggested this.  You can consider blood tests looking at the pancreatic enzymes.

Malabsorption may be considered as well.  Blood tests looking for celiac disease as well as stool tests examining for fecal fat can be done to consider this.

Another possibility may be bacterial overgrowth.  To evaluate for this, breath hydrogen testing as well as a jejunal aspirate (which is the gold standard) would have to be done.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician - or in conjunction with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
