I had lower and upper right abdominal pain for over 2 years, accompanied by constipation, excessive bloating, gas, worsened by exercise. Undiagnosed after several doctors and tests. I figured out on my own that the major problem was eating beef...so I stay away from it. It has made a big difference and my quality of life is much better now. If you eat beef you may want to try giving it up and see what happens. Good luck!
Hi there. I was suppose to get an ERCP also for a suspected SOD from previous gallbladder surgery. (suggested by a radiologist report)
The group of Gastro docs at a large teaching hospital here in Texas told me that they do not do ERCP's.
Another doc in the same area told me that he has discontinued doing ERCP also. His reason: Pancreatitis side effect.
Doing more research, I was told that if one has an ERCP/Sphinterotomy, make sure this doctor has done this procedure many many times. Ask questions and more questions. Make sure you are going to the top notch doc. Find out. Find out also what post-op complications can be and also long term.
Good Luck To You.

The BEST product out there is called Experience. My daughter failed to have bowel movements and she tried everything from prescription laxatives with mineral oil with Senokot. She would take Miralax in the morning, mineral oil in the afternoon, and Senokot at night. The brown stuff in the senna caused more problems because if taken for a long period of time it coats the colon and stops the absorption process. When she still didn't have bowel movements I took her off all three things and she started the Experience. You can take up to 10 capsules per day, but you don't want to start out with that many. The important thing is to drink it as a tea. You break the capsules open in hot water, not boiling water and you can add honey if you desire. You can start out taking 3 in the afternoon and two before bedtime. If you need to add more capsules, add them to the afternoon tea. I think you need to find yourself a good doctor and figure out what's going on. My daughter has a yeast and bacterial infection and yeast causes severe constipation. Do you take antibiotics?
Hi,
Warm water enemas can help a lot, as do metamucil (but you need to take more than the suggested dose). This has been my experience. Added to that, you must avoid all things made from white flour. Only use 100% whole wheat flour, and add raw veggies, fruits and lots of water. I use prunes (cooked in a little water to soften), and prune juice as well. But avoid white flour (it adds to the constipation).
Good luck.
Oh ya, Experience is made by the Awareness Corp. The web-site is www.awarenessherbs.com or you can try www.herbalhealthrx.com
Many thanks for the sugestions

It sounds as though you have a motility disorder. There is a new medication out there for predominant constipation IBS. It's called Zelnorm and works quite well for some people. You might also want to try warm water enemas.
