i am not sure  but i can tell you that you are intiteled to any and all information regarding your results or why he is sending you to an oncoligist.give he or she a call and let them know you want this explained to you fully and in layman terms so you can understand .i have had a few fistulas myself they were repaired is it possible he or she  screwed the operation up.and if so they are required by law to inform you.wishing you well.

I don't know why they would be sending you to an oncologist.  Sounds like you should go to a Colon/Rectal specialist.  I had a perianal cyst removed in April of last year.  I developed a fistula after that surgery and the surgeon referred me to the Colon/Rectal Specialist who repaired the fistula.   I hope you get to the bottom of this before too long.  Take care and best wishes.
