Appendicitis? IBS? Gastritis?

I have been diagnosed with IBS. Over last few days having some stomach cramps. Always afraid that I have appendicitis, docs always say i do not. Anyway, went to doc today, told him that i was concerned about appendix, felt the abdoman checked the rectum no pain, no fever, no real stomach pain...the only pain i have is when i touch my lower right side. The pain feels more muscular than anything else?> Could I have actually created the pain by pushing down on the abdoman so many times checking for appendicitis??

I had the same pain for over seven years.  Right side pain, right where the appendix sits. I am female so it was always dismissed as "just female pelvic pain". I heard this so many times I just gave up and dealt with it quietly.  After seven years and a whole new medical scene the most incredible doctor in the world came into my life...incredible why?  Because he BELIEVED ME!

To make a long story short he did a laparoscopy and found that I had a SCIATIC HERNIA (something to do with the herniation of the ureter or something like that.). I don't know if this can only occur in females, I never asked.  There's not much "out there" on it because it's only been discovered in the last 3 years according to my doctor.  He repaired it and after recovering from the surgery THE PAIN WAS GONE!!  You might want to ask your doctor to look into this.  I tried to find information on the internet to learn more about it but found NOTHING.  I guess it's just SO newly discovered that there's not much to write about.

Anyway,  hope this gives you another avenue to explore.  Good luck! :)

Hi ..
I had the same fears, my pain is mainloy located on the right lower side, I honest to god thought I had appendix dramas, and no amount of chitchat from doctors saying my appendix was fine took away the fear that I may indeed have some form of appendix inflammation due to the pain.

A year later....and a million specialist visits later, I still get the same pains on and off, and am no closer to knowing exactly why I get the pains or a whole list of others, IBS is about the closest ive ever gotten to a diagnosis.
Dont stress, I know thats easier said than done, but getting worked up makes things worse, just consult your doctor, get other opinions if you have to, but try and take solice in the fact others have and still do get the same pains and suffer the same fears of mis-diagnosis, etc.

Im currently reasearching the side effects of Dientamoeba fragilis, Blastocystis hominis (intestinal parasites) and the roles of intestinal flora within the human body...hopefully this may shed some light on my condition as it has for many others world wide, its just a shame most Australian doctors are so closed minded about these bugs.
Take care
cheers

Hi:

There is a very simple test to see if you are having an attack of appendicitis.

Generally, doctors will touch/press on the area 1/2 way between your navel and your pelvic bone on the right side. This is the true test ... However many doctors will simply have you perform a very simple test:  Try jumping up and down on your right leg. If you are having an appendix attack, you will not be able to complete this exercise!

Hope this helps!
