Bad odour associated with bloated/gas stomach

Im suffering from a stomach discomfort for nearly 5 yrs. My problem is that my stomach is constantly bloated/rumbly and filled with gas. No Pain however. I had a colonoscopy, barium anemea and a few other tests but doctors could not found anything although earlier blood tests had shown a yeast infection for which I received medication. I tried changing my diet on numerouse occassions without succes.what bothers me however, is the smell that is emitted with this bloatedness and has remained no matter what I eat!!!.
this has a bad affect on my social life. I'm currently using a herbal digestive tonic & spirulina Vitamin pills. Is this safe to use in this condition? what else can I do to ease the gas and make the smell dissapear?

I've had the same problem for several years now and the older i'm getting worst it's smelling. I'm a female, 26 years old. I feel that most of the ordor comes from bowels being impacted. I've noticed that when i eat food with certain spices it gives off the worst ordor.. another thing i stopped doing is drinking beer and eating food with garlic, onion, and foods with acids. I usually get a foul smell that.. reminds me of some kinda acid. What's been helping me is laxatives, drinking lots of water no soda and eating healthy with little meat involved and i noticed the change in my ordor and my bowel movements. Before my bowel movements were not empting out completely and was having a hard time wiping along with a feeling that my anus was open..or something like having an urge to use the restroom all the time.  I was diagnosed with IBS. I've had all the symptoms described by all of you. The worst part is that my social life has gone down the tube. I hardly like going to public places or being the social butterfly that i was. I just began taking these laxatives..and the change in diet and so far i feel better. So people your not alone in this. My advice is watch what you eat out there and drink alot of water.

Thanks

what is this? where is it coming from? some one please help me.I am a 30 yr old female with three children all born natural. I have this bloating and foul sulfur smelling gas that is leaking from somewhere. I thought it was coming from my vagina but don't know for sure and they want to do a barium enema and GI endoscopy on me.I hear they are no luck in founding out were this odor is coming from. I know I am not passing it through my rectum, because I can't feel it and don't belch that much. Where is this coming from. I have excessice gas, abdominal bloating, cramps in abdomen on both sides, nauseau, fevers occassionally, and headaches some times. If there is anyone who can help me understand what is going on and have tried something that seems to be working ,please let me know.

Amazing!  I thought I was the only one with this sort of problem.

I have been depressed and frankly thought I was going mad.  I have had complete Endo, Gastro and Colonoscopies with very little real results.  I have been diagnosed with IBS which hasn't done a thing to help me.  My social life has taken a complete nosedive and I'm 100% embarrassed all the time I'm out of my flat.  This has been very strange for me as I have often been known to be outgoing and friendly.  Now I am the very anithesis!!  I feel suicidal at times it gets so depressing.  Many of my friends have shunned me and my those who don't just suffer in silence and eventually make excuses to be rid of either themselves or me.

What confuses me is that I fail to smell this horrid smell on my body.  I do notice that my car has an acrid odour and any room I leave and come back that has little or no ventilation does tend to smell a bit off.

I do notice a sensation of wetness around my anus, but I don't have "spots" or skidmarks in my undies.  More recently the feeling of wetness has decreased thankfully.

Furthermore I have noticed that I feel "snotty" and "fluey" a lot of the time and my vision blurs a lot.  I have never needed glasses and only suffered from asthma during childhood.

I have recently given up smoking and recreational drug taking.
I gave up marijuana over 8 months ago.
I have tried a bowel cleansing program and have had an enema to no avail.  I did notice however that my vision did improve afterwards.

I have also tried to change my diet but have yet to see any postitive effects.

If there is any medication that is recommended?

Kind Regards,

TheNewGuy

Foul odors emanating from your skin can often be caused by certain allergic reactions. We have a dog with such a problem. I know dogs are different from humans in many ways, but it's a strong possibility. When she eats foods she is allergic to, her skin and especially her ears smell very bad. Perhaps you should look into this. There are many potential foods and chemicals that can cause allergy, including some of the 'healthful foods' like soy. A few telltale signs of food allergy and prolongued exposure to these offending foods include but are not limited to:

*ecxema and dermatitis
*severe itching all over the body
*athsma
*rheumatoid arthritis
*IBS-type symptoms (particularly diarrhea)
*watery eyes
*runny nose, often with purulent mucus discharge

Note that these symptoms are in no way exclusive to food allergy. Food allergy/sensitivity also tends to become much more common with age. Don't take my word for it, though. If you suspect food allergy, or are just at wit's end, then visiting a specialist regarding allergies might be recommended.

Also, olonic cleansing doesn't have much benefit (the talk about autointoxication is nonsense. There's no 'tarry or crusty buildup' in the colon... Endoscopic images of a colon that has not been evacuated is proof of this. In fact, colonic irrigation can be quite dangerous. As we all know, back in the days of old they would administer medicine and fluids rectally to patients who were too sick to keep food or water down (or who were in a coma) The same goes with the entire colon. If you engorge it with water, the colon will soak it up like a sponge. In rare cases, the fluid overload is so severe that it's fatal.) Of course, many of you have already ruled that out...

It could very well be IBS, I have received no assurance from my doctor and have made an appointment to see a GI.. It's very sad, because u become isolated.  I however have a tough time believing in gas leaks.  However I believe they exist.  There's something people forget, we have scented glands all over the body, apocrine glands, and near the area of discomfort is the anal scented glands, just like ur armpits, but near ur anus, and they can let out the most horrific odors, and like body odor, it's hard to remove and hard to detect by urself.  what I have to ask is how's ur daily activity, are u active, for me I'm always feeling gassy, so there isn't any suspicion of this GAS Leak, some are talking about, I am changing my diet, eating less meat actually no meat, more greens, and more water.  Water, and pineappple juice are very good, drink more fluids, no pop.  And sorry, but I think u have to sweat the funk out, it's the only way to do it.  I think we see everyone else and they take food for granted, but we on the other hand have to become active and lose on the fatty foods, if something doesn't smell right, fish, anchioves don't eat it.

theres my advice.

someone post something, again.

Hello Everyone.

I seem to be having similar symptons that you have all described. Unlike "TheNewGuy", I am actually aware of the smell, and it does not seem to leave a lasting impression in a room. My symptons are are Exactly what Gee Na has described.  I can assure you though Gee Na - the smell does not come from your Vagina, as I am a bloke (unless there is something even more seriously wrong with me then I could have possibly imagined). The smell could be coming from the rectum, but I suspect its more likely to be from the skin in doses (as though the skin is farting). However weird it may sound. I base this on the fact that the smell doesn't seem to be a very "farty" smell (yet still an unpleasent one).

Whats strange, is like most of the others here, is I've been suffering from this for about 6 years (I'm now 20 years old) and not all my life.

Too be very honest, I haven't done much about it. I've learnt to live with it. Thats not to say that it is very depressing - it is. Everything I do or plan to do revolves around this condition.

Recently though I tried a colon-cleansing programme which involved enemas, however this does not seem to have made any difference. I have noticed though that my symptons are very much better if I excreete offen.

I would appreciate any more advice that you may be able to give.

Hello everyone
This is the closest I have came to  making any sense as to what is going on with me. An adour problem that mysteriously began  three years ago.

I have spent thousands of dollars on medical tests, my symptons are: It appears like I am passing gas. No sound, just the smell is being emitted (I am not 100% sure if it is coming from the vagina or rectum)I am more incline to believe its from the vagina.  If and when I have an infection, the smell is greatly increased, so the doctors seem to believe the smell is due to the infection and does not realize that I continue to have this on-going problem.

If anyone is experiencing similiar problems, please write back asap, this is extremely difficult to deal with.  I will provide additional information as needed.  Thanks

What is colestid? Is the gas leaking from the rectum? I have been suffering with this for a long time, and have been through a long series of doctors and tests. I finally have gotten some answers today. Due to childbirth complications I have damage to the pudendal nerves, which are supposed to detect gas and not allow it to leak. I also have a rectocele (a bulging of the rectum into the vagina) where stool and gas get trapped and it is easier for it to leak out. I can have surgery to repair the rectocele, but the nerves cannot be repaired surgically.
