Bloating

I have had severe bloating and My GI doctor is trying to figure out why.  I am lactose intolerant and have steered completely away from milk products.  I have also been diagnosed with IBS.   However I start bloating about 10-20 minutes after eating.  Sometimes the bloating is so severe it causes me to have shortness of breath.  Currently I am taking Prilosec to see if the dyspnea will go away. The doctor has done a bacterial overgrowth test that was negative. I am scheduled for a Gastric Emptying study next week. Is there other things that can be causing the bloating.  I have already had a thorough pelvic check that turned up couple small benign fibroid tumors.

I have the same problems. Plus I can loose any weight, no matter what I do.  I get bloating that lasts all day.  I am lactoce intalerant too. The drs said I had iritable bowl, spastic colon, and it was a side effect of anorexia nervosa recovery.  I am on no meds right now, but just stopped taking seriously 25 pills a day treating all the possible problems. over a 1 1/2 years I have started forming a dos and don'ts list. Here is a small portion.
Don'ts:
eat most fruit, eat whole grains, drink soft drinks, eat cereal, use salad dressing, eat vetables, eat candy, chew gum, eat high fat foods, stress out, eat late,....
Dos:
Drink lots of water, eat soft foods, drink 100% juice, eat slow, get plenty of sleep, sleep on your back, drink green pepermint and ginger tea, and try yoga

I have gallstones and it feels like trapped gas in my stomach (bloating?) with pressure in my back, mainly on right side. If I massage my stomach I usually  burp and my back feels better. Did you have your gallbladder out? Problems?

same here...the tests...doc thought it was an ulcer but nothing showed.  did some reading some talking and finally decided i needed my gal bladder out and the two specialists i went to agreed.  lots of burping and pressure-pain like i'd fallen on my back and had the breath knocked out of me, i felt vomiting would give relief but did'nt--it would build up and i'd know it was coming and then all of a sudden it would disappear and i'd be fine--tagamet HB helped and i was using a perscription for ulcers(don't remb)...i took something before EVERY meal.  with the gal bladder, it fills up with bile from the liver and if there are gal stones the bile can't get out and so the gal bladder expands with bile which gives the bloated feeling.  go to an 'iterologist-a specialist.  Mine told me i needed my gal bladder out just by looking at all my past med history and talking with me.  the only way you can see if you have gal stones is to have a sonogram. bb
