I am overweight...5'8", 220 lbs. I gained weight back around 1995 when I quit smoking. Shortly after this I noticed that when I exert my stomach muscles (situps, pushups, stretching) there is a buldge from just below my breastbone which tapers down to just above my navel. The stomach muscles are hard (below the fat) but the buldge area is spongy. I am very out of shape, muscle-wise.
I have acid reflux which comes and goes with my diet. I suspect some hiatal hernia development although my doctor says there is not.
Is this a symptom of fat people or is it likely to be a growth or hopefully an undeveloped muscle mass?
I have a noticed a similar problem. Nothing is visible normally, however if I begin to situp while lying down, a bulge appears over myupper abdominal area. I used to be quite fit/active. I have no idea what this is but want to know as well.
In the last 2-3 years I became Hypothyroid and my activity level has progessively decreased inspite of hormone program.
