Can anyone help figure out what is wrong with my stomach?

First of all, I am very thankful for coming across this website.  Let me explain a little bit about my problem.  In October of 2000 I had a miscarriage.  Since then my stomach has never been the same.  I eat food and hours later vomit it all back up.  My doctor thought that I might have an ulcer.  My symtoms are: Naseua, vomiting, weak and painful stomach.  What happens is that I eat something say at 6pm.  I go to bed at 10 pm.  I wake up at 3am because I start feeling sick to my stomach.  I vomit for anywhere from 2-6 hours.  After that I start to feel better, although my stomach feels a little weak from vomiting.  My doctor said no pop(soda), no acidic foods like pizza sauce, oranges and tomatos, I have to eat before 6pm, exercise 3 times weekly, drink plenty of water and no meat.  He has had me on Prevacid for a long time, which helps me get the food down.  Just last week I finally want to a specialist.  He sent me in for an upper GI.  I couldn't finish the test because my stomach bothered me and I started vomiting.  The radiologist said that I don't have any ulcers, but he noticed that the barium wasn't moving out of my stomach.  He thinks that I may have a fault valve.  The valve that goes from your stomach to your small intestine.  I think its the Palorific valve...something like that.  My other doctor thought that I may just have a bacteria in my stomach that causes the ulcers.  I don't know what to think and this has been going on for 1 and 1/2 years now.  I want to eat normal again.  Lately the vomiting has gotten worse.  Can anyone help me?

Concerned Lady brought your message to my attention. I also have been suffering from gastritis, reflux and an esophagus disorder since having my baby 11 months ago. Prior to I was just fine. I don't understand what happened. What symptoms were you having? What did they do for you? How do you feel now? I am going to have my estrogen levels checked right away.

You need to find another doc who can help you figure all this out. In the meantime, look through the GASTRIC REFLUX TIPS (without acid blockers) that I will "cut & paste" for you, in case these might be helpful.

Some GASTRIC REFLUX TIPS (without acid blockers):

GER=Gastro-Esophageal Reflux. (Gastro=stomach. Esophagus=food tube.)

LPR= Laryngeal-Pharyngeal Reflux. (Larynx=voice box, containing the 2 vocal cords. Pharynx=throat, above the larynx. The larynx is above the trachea/windpipe.)

Reflux=acidic or alkaline stomach material that backs up into the esophagus (food tube), causing any of these problems: VCD attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc.

SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D. See page 9, References, in my website: http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com   and, also see GER/LPR info on page 5, and on LINKS page.

PLEASE READ THIS GREAT BOOK. It may possibly be bought on-line, from Michael T. Murray

You mentioned your symptoms began following a miscarriage.  Have you had your estrogen levels checked.  Low estrogen can cause delayed gastric emptying which I think you mentioned was a concern from the radiologist.  Have your OB run a test to check your levels.  I had a similar problem after a pregnancy and it took a few months to figure out my problem.  Best of luck!!

It's a shame that you weren't able to finish the endoscope. THAT'S where they'll find the problem. The bacteria your doctor is talking about is H-Pylori. This bug will cause ALL the symptoms you describe. I had this. I also have gastritis which the symptoms again are the same. Sounds A LOT like REFLUX. This bug again will cause this. When do you plan on hearing back from the GI doctor? Please let us know what he found or says. We could use the help as well ;)
Read DOWN on the board through the posts on gastritis and H-Pylori. See if you can relate.
