CatScan with Contrast

Did your doctor order a C/T of your pelvis and abdomen when your symptoms did not improve ?
Mine did  and I so did not enjoy the last time I had the injection : It gave me chest pain and a racing heart. The nurse said the allergy department can give something to minimize the side effects: Yuk.

I think they usually give IV Benadryl if you say you have allergies, especially to shellfish (iodine). For my one and only CT scan I did not get the Benadryl, although I'm somewhat allergic, and I developed two very itchy welts - one under my eye and one on the elbow. I think severe reactions are rare, but they do happen.

My doctor said Benadryl would be given ahead of time. The radiologist said if you have a reaction once then the second time would have more symptoms.
Better to be safe.
