Cause

I am a 23 year-old chinese male. I suffer high blood pressure (don't know the cause, none of my family member has the history of high blood pressure) and I have a 1.7 (I forget the exact number for the new result, it is about 3.2) HI Bilirubin total. I always encounter headache, and pain from the lower right side (the pain's area is about 5.5 inches from the bellybutton; this pain area is mostly below but above the bellybutton) and middle of my stomach (3.5 inches above the bellybutton). High blood pressure is not common on my age and I am afraid I am suffering some other disease, such as liver disease, brian disease, heart disease and etc, that cause the high blood pressure. Currently, I am taking medicine of NephpLex RX and Benicar. I often encounter headache. Please Help!!

With the elevated bilirubin, and pain on the right side, imaging the liver, gallbladder and biliary tree can be considered.  I would start with an ultrasound, and if inconclusive, a CT scan.

Other tests to consider would be an upper endoscopy to exclude upper GI causes like GERD, inflammation or an ulcer.

With the headache, a referral can be made to a neurologist, and if necessary, follow-up with a head CT can be done.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
