Diarrhea

i am a 42 yr old female.  2 yrs ago I had diarrhea for about 1 month and my doctor tested me for occult bleeding, blood tests, stool cultures, all normal, he then did a colonoscopy and said some inflammation in the cecum but could be from the prep for the colonoscopy. Diagnosed me as some sort of colitis. He put me on FiberCon one in AM one at night for one month then one a day for a month.  It worked.

In the past 2 years i have bouts of diarrhea, i take the fiber con and it clears.  This time I have had it for about 1 month and the Fiber Con is not helping.  Mainly the diarrhea is in the morning, but lately it is also at nite. I have undigested food in the stool.  My stomach makes lots of noise. No abdominal pain or cramping no bleeding.

I am on Celexa 20 mg a day since August of this year, I suffer from anxiety.  I have been under stress lately, my mother passed away in October and we have been dealing with her estate and moving.

Does this sound like IBS or a colitis.  When should I be concerned about colon cancer or other serious conditions.

My father had colon cancer at the age of 74.  Nothing prior to that and no other family members have cancer.

Any suggestions???????????
Thanks

Thank you for the responses.   I recently had a full blood workup, (2 weeks ago) and my liver functions were normal, my chloresterol level  however, went from 160 to 192 in one year.  All tests were within the normal range.  I do not have mucous in my stool.

I'm pretty positive it's the antidepressant.  Read the side effects of Celexa.

If your father died of colon cancer at 74 yrs old then you need a c-csope 10 yrs prior and you already had that.  You need yearly fecal occult cards to test for blood in your stool starting age 50 w/ a flex sig every 3-5yrs if no blood is found.  You may have a diarrhea predominant IBS, and an antispasmotic might help.  Also note Diarrhea is a side effect of the anti-depressent you are one.  You also didn't mention if your stool had mucous in it...typical of IBS, and if your liver function tests were normal.  Colestid, a bile acid sequesterant used for cholesterol control has also been shown to help w/ diarrhea.  Hope that helps
