Does anyone Have ANYTHING good to say about gall surgery????

I seem to read all of your posts about chronic diarrhea after gall bladder surgery, stomach problems, etc.  Does anyone have ANY good news??

I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of gall bladder surgery and I would like to hear something positive.

i had my gallbladder out two years ago, and have had problems ever sense then. I have two ERCP's and now have chronic pancreantitis. but there is one thing I did before and afteer I had my galbladder out that really helped me out and now I wise just keep doing this instead of having my galbladder out. You may want to look it up on the internet it is called a gallbladder cleansing by Dr. Hulda Clark it really works, I past 100's of stones before and even after I had my gallbladder out.
Gallstones are made in your liver not in your gallbladder.
I took these stones in to my Dr. and he said he had never herd of pasing stones after your gallbladder is gone, they wre tested
and comfurmed to be galstones. Dr.'s are to quick to take out gallbladders and that is not were galstone come from, they come from your liver, they just get stuck here, you have to ask yourself if that is a good enough reason to take it out.

I too had problems with post gb surgery, but mine was not until 9 months later.  Since then (l999) have undergone 4 ERCP's/sphict/pressures of 400 & still no relief.  Have gone through Standford and Mayo in Arizona.  No pain medication will ease this & am nauseated all the time.  Pains go from sharp stabbing to dull aching right upper quadrant to back or vice versa!   Vodka does help along with Miller Lite!  What really bothers me is I don't feel Dr.'s "believe" I am in much difficulty.  The last straw was at Mayo & after having injected 7cc's Lidocaine into mid-abdominal area,  thinking I may have abdominal muscle spasm (?), was told that my pain is probably coming from coping with a rather large chest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOr someone under 50 this may have been a compliment, but I am looking for a cure!  Considering surgical removal of the biliary tree.  Any suggestions?  Has anyone had this done to alleviate their symptoms??             PLEASE HELP.....

I had my gall bladder out a year ago...  it wasn't "sick", it went out all at once.  In a day I went from nothing to mild cramping to severe pain.  I couldn't move without vomiting and they needed to get the infection and fever down and remove it before I was out of the hospital...  other than the recovery time and the difficulties of nursing an eight-month-old in the weeks right after surgery, I have had no complications and I know I would be far worse off had I not had the surgery, assuming that had been an option at all.  That said, removing an organ isn't something to be done lightly, of course.  You should weigh the problems you're having now that you're sure are related to your gall bladder, with the likelihood and severity of the problems resulting from the operation.  For what it's worth, I've had chronic GI problems for several years before the surgery, and they have not gotten any worse--some of the symptoms have become milder, but I also attribute that to dietary changes.

I am now 74 years old and had GI problems for at least 15 years before having my gall bladder removed. I had an attack severe pain after eating a dill pickle. The lower bowel cramping has disappeared, I eat anything I want to, my BM is regular and I feel much, much better than prior to the surgery.

Don't wait too long to have it removed if the doctor tells you to. My wife almost waited too long and the surgeon said that within a very short time her gall bladder would have ruptured and more than likely caused death!

I am having some problems after my gallbladder surgery but I do not regret it at all.  My scars are better than expected and healing well.  I have other problems which seem to complicate things with me - and I knew that going into the surgery. I would much rather schedule surgery than wait until it was an emergancy and not know who was operating on me. At least it is one less thing to worry about!
