Dumping syndrome

Is it possible to have dumping syndrome without having had a previous gastric operation, or any other former gastroentrological sickness whatsoever? What would cause that?

I do have a meeting with my doctor next week and I will ask for the A1C test (I understand that it shows whether you had high glucose levels in your blood - unbalanced diabetes, actually - in the last 3 months).
I will also try the Giardia Lamblia option - I was in Mexico last November - I wonder if that counts...
And as for wheight loss - I wasn't so lucky... I actually feel heavier than ever, my tummy is constantly upset and sensitive and I keep feeling "full" all the time.

Thanks for your comment. I don't have such extreme symptoms, but whenever I eat a slightly bigger meal lately (that is, bigger than some cottage cheese spread on a crisp bread), and especially if this meal includes carbohydrates (whole grain bread also counted) and I also drink along, I get real pale after around 15-20 minutes, very weak, my heart races and produces a lot of premature beats and I feel very sick (I did not vomit until now but do feel like I am going to). Nothing really helps, but after an hour or so it goes away. I am perfectly healthy otherwise, never was seriously sick' hospitalized or operated. I can't figure out what could actually cause this. I guess I will have to seek some proper medical help if it doesn't get any better soon.
Thanks

it does sound like Dumping Syndrome to me.  I am no doctor just a sufferer of this but it very well can occur without a surgical procedure.  Something may be going on in the tummy or you could have something like Giardia or another type of parasite because one of the Gastro docs I saw early on...suspected this with me.

Have you been to Mexico or out of the country prior to this all starting? The doc even asked me if I had been to Colorado?

Good Luck to you.

Hello..
another suggestion... you may want to talk to your doctor about checking your blood sugar... have them do the blood test that checks the level over a period of time, but only requires one poke.  I think its called Hemoglobin A1C.
I have problems similar to yours and that was one of the tests that they did on me.  Also, I just (a few months ago) found out that I have a divided pancreas, and that my body can't naturally break down fats and stuff, so I have packed on weight and can't get rid of it.  There are procedures to fix it, but from what I have heard, sometimes the fix is worse than the problem itself.
I have the dumping syndrome too, but I haven't lost weight from it.  Darn it all..lol.  Breads seem to be the worst for me, as long as I don't eat it, I'm ok.

I am not a doctor but 25 years ago, i had a bad surgeon who while he was taking out my gallbladder saw a small hiatal hernia (you are suppose to leave these alone) he decided to do something called a Vagotomy and a pyloroplasty. Have no idea still what he did.

A few weeks later, after eating a piece of cake and a coke, I felt very weak and dizzy and sick to my stomach.  I had to lay down as my heart was racing.  I then had the diarreah and vomited.  This happened every time, I drank something with my meals OR ate something sweet.

The surgeon did not have a clue but a few years later, another doctor told me that i was describing "the dumping Syndrome" and this only comes with a surgical procedure to the gut.

I went back to the doc who had done the surgery and he told me that "NO, YOU do not have the dumping Syndrome as I did not do a Gastric by Pass on You!"...

WELL. I did have the dumping.  In one year time, I had dropped over 30 lbs. and was weiging 90 lbs.  This dumping is HORRIBLE!

There are 2 different kinds of Dumping...Early dumping and late dumping.  I had both.   Regardless of what this Idiot surgeon did, HE did cause me to have the dumping Syndrome by a surgical procedure.

I hope you do not have this.

Good Luck.
