GERD?

Hello...does this sound like it can be Gerd?  My sypmtoms are: *  shortness of breath if I am laying down standing up, any      position really.
*  Fingertips turning a dark red/purple around cuticles (related to breathing)
*  Feeling of a tightness in my chest that won't let me breath past a certain point.
*  Heart racing after walking across the room
*  pain in arm, feels like all of the muscles are torn loose from my arm and then radiates into the shoulder, but after a couple of minutes will stop.  Happened about 3 times or so in the past few weeks.
*  Fatigued all of the time
*  Acid indegestion a few times in the recent past

The reason I listed all of this is I read somewhere that some of this can be related to GERD.  I wanted to see what possibly is and is not.

Thank you for your time and sorry for the lengthiness.
Chad

I went to the cardiologist and he said that I do have abnormal thickening in the heart wall from high blood pressure.  I am still going to return and perhaps ask about a "holter monitor" to see why walking a short distance doubles my heart rate.
I feel bad a lot.  I don't know what else to do.  I am running out of options.  Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
Thank you...chaddy

Hi,

I have all your symptoms, except the red/purple around fingernails.

I have GERD, but you may have something else. Some of these symptoms do cross over to other conditions, so I concur that you should be sure to get a diagnosis so you can get treatment and relief asap.

Hi Chad:

Frankly, your stmptoms do not sound like GERD to me at all!! It sounds like you are not getting sufficient oxygen into your bloodstream. I had a collapsed lung following surgery some time back and the blue fingernails were a sign of oxygen deficiency that the nurses checked for almost continuously.

This site is not monitored or moderated by an MD, so you will only get patient to patient feedback here. I would suggest that you call you doctor immediately, describe your stmptoms, and see what she/he suggests. I would not delay in making that call, either.

Best of luck. I hope all goes well.
