My symptoms after gallbladder surgery on 1/24/03 is a constant burning that wakes me up (stomach, esophagus), and very slight nausea. I cannot eat anything solid. They put me on Aciphex three days ago, but I haven't noticed any changes. Anyone knows or have had this so soon? Could it be a stomach problem? I had a scope of the stomach done in October 2002, and also a CT scan of abdomen in December before the surger and it was all normal. I feel as if I am on fire, and as if I had eaten hot peppers!!
Hi,
Ask them to check your amalyse and lipase levels. It could be that your experiencing a bout of pancreatitis which is NOT uncommon after a gallbladder operation. Also it could be the Oddi Sphincter. The symptoms are very close. Ask them to do a fecal fat test. If your only 29, then chances are they are not EVEN looking for either of these 2 problems. If you drink alcohol, stop immeadiatly.
PLease talk to your doctor about any of these tests. It could not be these either, but you never know. I was only 34 and they kept telling me I was to young for either of those problems. That I didn't fit the "bill" for those problems. Finally I was doagnosed with both. It was that all along. Only the waiting to diagnose me made me more sick.
Your problem may not be that at all, but the tests are very simple easy to do and inexpensive to the insurance. I wouldn't see why your doctor would refuse you the blood work or the fecal fat test.

Have they ever checked your amylase and lipase levels when you were in the ER with the abdominal pain? Seems that a good percentage of people with gallbladder problems end up having pancreas problems afer the gallbladder removal. The pain is often located in the same place, and radiates to the back and shoulder.
I suggest you see a gastroenterologist and get a complete work up. Good luck.
