High AST, ALT and GGTP

Hi, I'm hoping you can give me some clear answers on wheiter or not I should start worrying.  My husband just had a blood test and his levels came back as follows:
AST - 38 (under 37 suggested)
ALT - 48 (under 40 suggested)
GGTP - 78 (between 7-51 suggested)
Cholesteral - 244 (obviuosly under 200 recommended)
Triglicrides, HDL and LDL were normal.
In reading the other posts, I know that his levels aren't as high as others but I do have concern.  He is is about 35 lbs. overweight and has been excersing and eating right since the results came back and the doctor suggested that he return in 3 months and take blood again.  He said that the high liver levels could be due to his diet.  As you can see his GGTP level is much higher then it should be.  My major question is:  should he be investagating his high levels now or should he wait for the 3 months.  Also, his father has hepatitis C from a blood transfusion years ago in the Navy.  Is it possible for him to get a form of hepatits?  Any help you can give to calm my nerves would be greatly apprecitated.

Further investigation can be done with an ultrasound.

This can evaluate for anatomic disease as well as fatty liver.  If weight is a concern, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis can lead to this picture.

I would also test the severity of hepatitis C, and consider a liver biopsy if the workup continues to be non-revealing.

These options can be discussed with his personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

His uric acid level was also 8.1 (should be 2.4-7.0)
