I don't know what is wrong..I need help

I am 24yrs old female whom have always had constipation difficulties. Every once in a while I would have bleeding, (sometimes it really scared me). I have tired laxatives to help, but they usually don't affect me at all. Last semester I was having severe headaches with vertigo and a neurologist diagnosed me with chronic tension headaches and migraines w/vertigo. I noticed that my feelings of being light-headed and dizziness due occur simultaneously with my constipation. I have also had rapid weight gain within the last few months and I am more active now than I was before so the dr. does not understand why I am gaining so much-(dr. confirmed not due to diabetes &/or thyroid). I have missed my menstrual cycle for 3 mths now (dr. thinks it may be due to the weight gain) so she is wondering if I am having problems with my reproductive system. However, I have a mucus discharge (light tan colored) when I do try to have a bowel movement or do have one. Could my reproductive system difficulties relate to my bowels or my bowels relate to my reproductive problems? I am afraid to get tell my dr. about my bowels- I have never had any of this checked. (When asked about them, I say that "I am regular" because I am scared of what could be wrong. I am a college grad student and I am skeptical about all this medical stuff because I am afraid of the possible diagnosis. Does anyone have any ideas what I could be dealing with? I feel alone.

My girlfriend would try to go to the bathroom and felt like it was nearly killing her. It started out with a couple drops of blood then it progressed to looking like she was on her period.  She was severely constipated and could not go. Turned out she had an anal fissure, a rip in the wall of her anus. Sex was out of the question with her husband it was that painful. She was put on a high fiber all day diet and the fissure healed itself. Not always the case but possible sometimes surgery is needed. This should get checked out or it can get worse whatever the problem may be. Its just like a cavity it doesn't go away it just gets worse.

Hi, I think you should ask your gynocologist to check for hydrosalpinx and ovarian cysts and also adhesions. It took since this past Feb. for me to get some relief. It all started with me just passing out while sitting in class and feeling sick everyday ever since. I have had so many tests done ...all coming back "normal" the only thing that ever showed up was a cyst on my ovary from a ct scan of my abdomen that I had to beg the ER Dr. to do, and he only did it to give me "peace of mind" and said he knows it probably won't show anything but just for my sake he'll do it. I was persistant so I got what I wanted...well a cyst the size of a large egg was seen on my ovary....I had to have my gynocologist follow up on it  and he did internal vaginal ultrasounds, 2 of them 3 weeks apart and that is where he found the things I told you to have looked into. To make a long story much shorter..I just had surgery on sept.27th and every symptom I had before is "mysteriously" gone and I finally feel about 90 % my old self  before my problems. I was told by a few different Dr.'s it's anxiety/panic disorder and that does wierd things to your body.....and was even put on meds for it. I think you know your body best and don't let any Dr. try to tell you otherwise. My gynocologist said I had so much scar tissue (adhesions) that he couldn't even see my organs (reproductive) and even showed me photos from the surgery so I could see for myself.I now would have to do in vitro if I want anymore babies because I am tubeless (lol) not funny really, but I was so sick of feeling horrible that I didn't care what had to be done.I was also getting temps off and on at the end too. There is a website called "bombobeach.com" it is about adhesions,  and alot of people have problems you wouldn't even imagine because of adhesions.....so take a look and see if it is of any help to you! Good Luck!

Inbalance of hormones can cause constipation. I had a hormonal ovarian cyst that caused me to be contipated - plus I didn't have my period for 3 months, and gained about 10 pounds. The cyst caused me no pain what so ever. You need to tell your Dr all of your symtoms in order to get the right diagnoses. Chances are you don't have a cyst - don't be shy it's not worth it. I was 22.

I second all the good advice that vergo57 has already offered.  Especially that about finding a good doctor that you feel confident and comfortable with, enough so that you can share all your health concerns and problems.  Quite often one problem leads to another, or one is the cause of another.  Being completely honest about ALL your problems with your doctor will help him or her to reach an accurate diagnosis and suggest the right treatment to really help you.   Good luck.

Since you have been constipated have you tried to increase your fiber intake...laxatives should not be used. They can throw the functioning of your bowels out of whack.
I take a teaspoon of Metamucil in the am and pm..it is not a laxative but a good source of soluable fiber. It will make your stool come out much easier..but make sure you take it regularly.
Straining during bowel movements is not good for your system and can cause complications when you get older and it can cause hemmoroids and bleeding.
I had mucus too in my bowel movements when I was constipated but no longer since I have been taking Metimucil.
Also it is important to drink lots of water too.
You should get yourself a doctor who you can feel comfortable enough to discuss your health problems and answer any questions.
Best of health...virgo
