I was "diagnosed" with elevated LFT's so I cut the booze, all over the counter pain meds (ie, Advil etc...) which lowered the levels...but not all the way. I then had an ultrasound that found what looks like a little bit of fatty tissue. Next step is to try to lower my fat/cholestoral intake and see if that has an effect otherwise the next step after that involves a liver biopsy which I would rather avoid.
My doctor explained that if it is confirmed that my liver just has a little fatty tissue then I can manage it with a change in my diet...which must be done because although a fatty liver is not a whole lot of cause for alarm...worse senerio...it can cause psorosis of the liver if you do not watch it.
Thought I would pass on info on my experience on the subject.
May peace and healing be yours...and mine
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT I SPOKE TO MY DOCTOR A LITTLE WHILE AGO AND SHE SAID SHE IS NOT WORRIED SHE IS JUST SENDING ME TO SEE A SPECIALIST TO MAKE SURE NOTHING IS OVERLOOKED. SHE ALSO SAYS IT COULD BE BECAUSE I TAKE A HORMONE REPLACEMENT PILL PREMARIN. I ACTUALLY DO NOT DRINK SO THAT IS A RELIEF.
I currently have the same problem. Relax, it may simply be one of the following as explained to me by my doctors office.
1, It could be a viral infection or flu which would cause the level to increase if your white cell count has been elevated also,
2, You may be taking too much tylenol,
3, It could be caused from too much alcohol.
Your doctor will most likely want to retake your blood. If it comes back high again, you'll be asked to abstain from Tylenol and alcohol, then retested in a few weeks. Most of the time, one of the above are the the reasons for elevation. Talk to your doctor more and learn more about what you can do to maintain a healthy diet. Stressing will only make you more frightened.
Good luck!
