Liver swollen/enlarged ---- abdomen swollen- ---chest pain----fatigue

I have been sick for over 120 days.  A catscan showed my liver to be swollen/enlarged on a catscan (40 days ago).  My abdomen is also greatly enlarged.  The radiologist also saw a spot on my liver and immediately scheduled an ultrasound the next day.  After reading the ultrasound- the radiologist made an MRI with contrast 3 days later (first available one).

Nurse told me that the MRI dis not show cancer or any bad abnormalities besides the swollen liver.

Also have extreme pain in chest---had EKG (80 days ago) chest scan (80 days ago) Stress Echocariogram (20) days ago. Right side of heart --looked slightly swollen- put on Zbeta for heart pain. Cardiologist said that whatever is messing with my liver is likely affecting my heart.

Pain becoming worse in bone area in chest- ribs- sternum -.

Breasts even seem swollen- extremely painful.

Pain not worse when I eat--only more fatigued
Liver enzymes normal
Blood in normal ranges

Lymph node under right arm swollen-hard. (4 weeks)
Lymph node area in groin swollen on both sides.(1 1/2 weeks)

Going back to doctor Tuesday- ready to argue for catscan in chest and abdomen and biopsy of at least one lymph node.

Concerned that they might not find anything and I will continue to be without a diagnosis.  Unsure that he a gastroenterologist would deal with the whole array of symptoms or just focus on liver.

Has anyone any bad stories about gastroenterologist or have been helped greatly by one.

My Primary Doctor seems to be dragging his feet and not concerned about my extreme pain/fatigue at age 21.

I have a problem and i dont know what to do about it.  Im 18 years old and my mother has been an alcoholic since i was about 11 or so.  Ever since shes had the problem Ive tried everything to get her to stop.  When I was little I would take all the cases of beer she had (which she always kept in stock) and put them in my bathroom that was in my room and lock the door, and told she couldnt have it.  Ive begged her all the years to quit or atlease slow down.  It's came to the time now where its almost too late.  Doctors tell her her liver has enlarged.  Im not sure if thats all of the information, because she tried not to tell me, and felt reluctant to tell me tonight.  She takes cholesterol pills, and she told me that they can affect her liver too.  Basically making an excuse for her drinking which she has always done.  I was so mad at her when she told me.  I just wanted to say there you go mom you deserve it.  But she doesnt.  She (when sober) normally is a great mom and always has been.  I did say to her though that I hope it was all worth it too you.  My grandparents from germany are here for the summer and my grandpa drinks all the time too.  She drinks still with him, everyday.  I can't evern count in a day how many they drink. You would think that after being told you have an enlarged liver, that you would quit.  She wont even go back to the doctor for another two months.  Till my grandparents leave.  She says its too much to worry about right now so shes going to wait.  I told her the worrying isnt going to go away or even get easier.  And right now you have a chance to make things better, you wait two months and things can only get worse.  Its so hard to hear your mother tell you she doesnt care.  She may be able to wait two months until she finds out whats really wrong with her, but I on the other hand, CANT.  Is there anyone out there who can tell me whats wrong with her and whats going to happen to her??? Please let there be someone.  She refuses to help herself, I guess its up to me to help her.  You know, since I was little I always told her "Mama your gonna die from that someday" just trying to scare her, I never would have thought that I'd be right....

Cwendy, I do not have an answer for you, but oh how I wish I did. I am sorry you are experiencing all of these symptoms. Two things I must say to you though is #1 - if you are not comfortable with any Dr. you go to, move on..  there is nothing more important to your health then to have a Dr. that is educated and rules out everything possible to see what the problem is.  #2 - I have not ever performed a "flushing" that has been purchased, however I did some research on a natural way, and it was amazing. If you do not have a Juicer, you will need to get one. Take a whole head of cabbage and as you are juicing the cabbage drink it immediately. The cabbage will not be nearly as effective if you wait until the whole head of cabbage has been juiced because it only takes 10-15 seconds for it to lose the properties (after being juiced) needed to flush you. So what I do, is have a few glasses ready at hand and once a small cup has filled I drink quickly and replace with another cup as it continues to juice the cabbage. I know this may sound a little odd, but you will believe it works after an hour to a couple of hours by how it does flush you out. The only thing I recommend now is to stay close to home afterwards because if you have a lot of toxins in shoves it out very quick.
I wish you the best of luck and maybe it is time to get second opinions.
Take Care!

If I were you (with an enlarged liver and slightly enlarged heart), I'd ask for hepatitis tests (to see if I had viral hepatitis, or autoimmune hepatitis)......and just to be safe I'd get my transferrin levels checked (look for high iron levels).

i would go to GI DR. have you had a liver profile done? if no you might want to. also a alphafetaprotein test done can also give them alittle more insight to cancer or liver problems.hope everything goes okay. let us known. god bless
