Nausea, etc.

I'm 63 male, avid runner-usually very healthy.  2 weeks ago had sudden nausea (never vomited) just nausea.  It was intermittent. I have a history of GERD due to an ulcer 14 years ago...Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since.  My GP ordered an upper GI.  All normal except MASSIVE GERD.  He doubled my nexium to 2 a day.  Also had a chest xray which was normal.  He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc)
Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.  Gastro changed me to aciphex once a day and reglan at night.  This was 4 days ago....eating a little better but still have some bouts with nausea....will it take time for the new meds to work?  Or could something else be going on to cause this....*by the wayk, i also had an ultra sound of abdominal area - all normal.  Also have colonoscopys every three years.....no problem there....thanks

I agree with both the upper GI series and upper endoscopy.  I also agree with changing PPIs and starting Reglan in conjunction with the Aciphex.

Further testing can be done on the liver or gallbladder, since diseases here can lead to chronic nausea.  An ultrasound would be a good place to start, and if there's anything suspicious, can be followed up with an MRCP.

If the tests remain negative, more specialized tests, such as a esophageal motility study or gastric emptying scan, can also be considered.

Thanks....for information, i've already had the ultra sound on gall bladder, pancreas, liver, etc....normal - no stones, etc.....I think i need to just get it through my head that all is well.....easier said than done....I was reassured though after the abdominal blood work....hard to pick up my appetite after two weeks or so of not having much of one....thanks for your response
