Question re CT scan finding

My wife just had a CT scan for blood in her uring ... the scan found nothing but had this side result "There is an ill-defined roughly 1.2 cm low density area in the superior pancreatic head (series 5 image 11).  THis is seen in all 3 series to include precontrast, pst-contrast and delayed views.  There is a centrally lucent almost linear portion and numbers compatible with fat can be obtained in this region.  THe remainder of the lesion is not as low in density as it is centrally, although it is lower in density than the adjacent pancreas.  THe lesion does not appear to enhance."
Can you tell me in English what this means?  SHe is having an MRI on Monday.  At this point, we are both confused.

I would appreciate the answer to my question, especially since $16 was charged to my account.

The only problem with your answer is it doesn't answer my original question.  I agree that the MRI is needed, BUT what does the original statement mean in English????  I really need a translation! I'm not looking for a diagnosis.

The CT sometimes is not totally comprehensive in imaging the pancreas.

The mass can be cancer, a cyst, or a pancreatic pseudocyst, amongst other causes.  Of course, cancer needs to be ruled out.  That is why the MRI was ordered.

I agree with the MRI.  Another imaging modality that may be of benefit would be an endoscopic ultrasound.

These options should be discussed with your GI physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
