Stomac issues

I have GERD,and take pantaloc daily (like Nexium) Used to take domperidone, but it made me lactate! I take Gaviscon also when needed.  I had developed severe asthma symptoms and finally came to these conclusions after months and numerous tests.
Anyone know of long term and side effects are of this type of med?
This morning I belched several times after drinking only water and could taste iron.  I was wondering if a person could have bleeding in the stomac and not have black stools?  My stools are normal as far as I can tell.  But I was very lightheaded and had to leave work today.  I also go through some periods where I was having heart palpitations, particularly around the time when I switched to Nexium, but also at other times.
Thanks!  There's lots of interesting reading and I like Toccoah's replies, very reassuring approach!

After 6 weeks of Nexium and no relief the side effects were : headache, abdominal pain.
The pharmacist said that many H2 blockers can speed up the CNS and cause rasing heart too.
I am trying DGL again and this is day 5 : No luck yet.
This is a every day suffer ordeal and I only wish to know cause as well as relieve symptoms as you too.
What diagnosis did the G.I. doctor give you after tests ?

I wanted to share something with you so that it may help some of you who are suffering from chromic gastritis.  As I have indicated in my past post here, I developed my stomach problem
after antibiotic treatment for H pylori.  It started out as
severe buring feeling in the area underneath the rib cage and right in the middle of the stomach.  Also I started to burp
every ten minutes 24 hours a day.  Pain lasted throught the whole year ( about 12 months) and eating was very difficult and as a result, I have lost about 25 lbs.

As the time progressed, I started to notice some changes in my symptoms.  Although frequency of the belching and pain in my stomach decreased, I had a terrible feelig of indigestion.
It felt as though food is stuck im my stomach for a long time.
In addition, I developed symptoms of IBS with very irregular bowel movement.  Most of all, I noticed a bulge on both sides of
belly buttom that extends all the way upto rib cage.  It appears
as though my abdomen wall shrink to form these bulge due to
severe weight loss.

I have taken time off from my work and gettting a massage on
my stomach to see if i can relax my stomach muscle.  it feels very tight and feels as though my intestine and lower part of my stomach is being pressed by the bulges formed from the stomach wall.  Actually masage is helping alot with my digestion and
stomach pain.   I am beginning to think that may be long chronic
gastritis may be related to inefficient passage of food.

Check if you have any hard structures on your abdomen may form if you had lost much weight due to initial gastritis.  Also
stomach motility study may help you to see if your stomach is
releasing the food to intestine properly.

Yes, I had an endoscopy (which I think I should have another, it's been 1 year) the 24hour pH test and a motility test to check the stregth of the esophagus.  I had over 300 refluxes in only 17 hrs, where the norm is under 50 in 24 hrs!
The endoscopy showed a hiatus hernia, where 2 days previous the barium swallow did NOT show this result (barium swallows are not accurate enough) and the motility test did show that my lower esophageal sphincter was totally lax.  Basically it stays open.

I've just noticed that in the last year all these issues and other seem to be making me quite anxious, needing meds sometimes for it.  But I wonder about not absorbing critical vitamins and minerals, important for proper nerver function and general health, when there is no stomac acid in your stomac due to the Pantaloc/Nexium?
Know anything about this?  I've been on them for 1 1/2 years now.
Thanks to anyone who replies!

OMG....me too!!!!!!! I belch...never did before, not like now anyway. I never experience heartburn. I have pain to my chest where my esphague(sp?) is and in my back...never did before( could be herniated cervical disks also but am beginning to wonder about that). constant clearing of throat with phelgm.I don't have lung problems although have been short of breath(just started having that on occasion too). I'm dizzy and lightheaded at times, heck the list is endless and it could be a variety of reasons. Between my Gastro doc(new guy, see him on Tuesday; is scheduling another endoscopy) and back surgeon and possible mold problems in house I don't know what direction to turn to. I've read also that heart problems can mimic the same symptoms. I'm beginning to feel like a hypocrondriac....

I've had all the tests, mentioned above.
I'm ok on the meds, but I don't feel as strong as I used to. That's why I'm thinking that the lack of stomac acid is preventing absorption of essential vits & minerals.
I tried to stop the Pantaloc(nexium) a month ago and started suffering from asthma again, lots of burning, a bit of laryngitis (like I was screaming at a concert all night!)
I know I'll have to stop once I'm pregnant and that scares me. Which H2 blocker were you taking?  Do you know of side effects from taking pantaloc or nexium?  I don't know of any of them.
I do get a tingly burning sensation in the back of my mouth and tongue alot, coincedently when I feel the burning in my throat and a bit wheezy. I figured it was acid refluxing?  Usually only at the end of the day.  And I take my meds about 8 am by the way.

Do you burp after eating and get a buring sensation in your chest , tongue hurt ?
I have such indigestion and can't figure why they say NUD and still not find relief from meds that control acid ?
Why would it continue ? How long have you suffered and how was your diagnosis established ?

I too have lost over 20 lbs due to gerd, heartburn, abdominal pain and digestive problems.
Tried Nexium for 6 weeks 9 months ago and it did nothing to help.
I have posted the other meds tried and failed.
This being unable to eat leads to eating disorders.
I live a very healthy lifestyle and could not make any changes to eleviate symptoms. Only the stress in the beginning with loosing 4 family members. Read about a massage to the stomach on post and wondered about accupressure and or any herbal remedies you have tried ?
I am trying DGL again since the H2 blockers made my heart race and who needs an extra body part not working. Can't figure why something can't help. Keep us posted

So sweet ;-) Thanks!

I often wondered about the same thing myself. Bleeding in the stomach "Without" dark stools. Something I plan on bringing up next week to my GI. I sort of understand what you are feeling, because I too feel the same way at times. Like today, this crazy feeling in my stomach that almost has a "Sick to your stomach" kind of feel. Like motion sickness or something. Heart starts to beat heavy, but not fast, just really hard. I also belch a LOT after water and I'm a BIG water drinker.....BIG. However, I find myself not being able to drink as much as I use to. Too sad. I'll be curious to see what others have to say. Have you had a lot of testing done recently? Like the endoscopy?
