Ulcer after Gall Bladder removal HELP???

Hi -- First I want to thank everyone for all their input on my previous question.....  I went to see the surgeon who tok the Gall Bladder out.. He is referring me to a GI specialist.  Because I am still having the same kind of symptoms as when I had my Gall Bladder attacks.  He did tell me that the GB definitely had to come out.  It was loaded with stones and also when he opened me up, he found that it was also very inflamed.  He said it was stuck to my duodenum.  He feels that I may have a DUODENAL ULCER. I am still having the painfull attacks in my upper right chest.  I have been very sick to my stomach on occasion.  To the point of vomitting.  Very tired and worn out.  I am so tired of being sick, it is not funny!!!!!  I have to call Monday to make my appointment with the GI.  Does anyone out there know anything about these ulcers,  what should I expect if I do have one????  Has anyone had the same problem since having their GB out??????  AGAIN, an input or information would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!  THANKS AGAIN

I was so relieved to find that other people have had similar experiences with the gallbladder issue.  I had my gallbladder removed this past Tuesday and last night, which was Sunday I had severe chest and back pain, eerily similar to the pain that I suffered prior to the surgery.  The pain was so intense that I had to go back to the E.R., where they took some x-rays and did blood work and came up with nothing.  I have an appt. with the surgeon on Wednesday to discuss what might be causing this.  I am seriously tired of this pain and really wish it would cease.

Hello everyone,
So glad to find a place where I can read about the same symptoms my 19 yr old daughter is having.  She also had her gallbladder removed 2 months after having her baby and is still having basically the same problems she had when the doctor decided to take her gall bladder out.  In addition to all the symtoms mentioned in this thread forum, her liver enzymes are also extremely elevated.  Mysterious enough, my neice told me about a friend of hers that was suffering with the same symptoms, but alas, she was diagnosed with having Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.  I went to askjeeves.com and searched this topic which led me to the following link you may all find helpful: http://medhlp.netusa.net/per16/gastro/messages/30148a.html
This page defines what sphincter of oddi dysfunction is and what the symtoms are.  By gosh, I am so sure that this is exactly what my daughter has that I am printing the page and taking her to our local gastroenterologist asap. If you have been to the doctor and they are just assuming you have an ulcer, you may want to research Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction and the symtoms.

I know what kind of doubts you must be having.  Boy, had I known that I would have gone through this much trouble after having mine out in April, I probably would have never had it done.  I think it is wise to see the doctor on Wednesday and see what he has to say.  Make sure to ask him if he is absolutely positive that this is what needs to be done, especially if you are not having any pains.  If you have any specific questions that you would like to ask offline, please feel free to email me (***@****).  Take care and best of luck tomorrow.

I do eat low fat and exercise regularly...mu gastro doctor ..told me i cannot be that sick if I exercise...right. I have now lost over 40 lbs. I t does not matter what I eat or if I go without eating the pain is there expecially when I wake in the morning.
I am so sorry to hear about your pancreatitis....my sister also got pancreatitis after her ERCP...that is why I was so worried about mine...but, he did not look at the pancreas  with mamontry ...due to he was afraid I would get pancreatitis like her...that is why I think there is a problem with the pancreas...especially since I have pain no matter what I eat..but, he keeps trying to tell me it is IBS....which I have no lower abd. pain and the pain is not relieve by going to the restroom. Well, thanks for the input and I hope your feeling better real soon.

I have been diagnosed with gallbladder disease and was told by my doctor that I am needing to have my gallbladder removed, However I don't have the pain that I have heard other people describe I have the fullness after my meals. I have great conserns after reading comments of people who have had their gallbladders removed they all seem to have there same symptoms. I am going to see the surgeon on Wednesday for an exam and I am not sure that I wont to have this surgery. I am 32 and have been told by other people that I am young to be having this type of surgery and if it is removed now what happens as I get older. Please help greatly concerned. Thanks

Hi - I think if I were you I would probably search for a new GI doctor.  Sounds like yours is trying to make you think the pain is just in your head.  I know from experience that you have to be persistant in your own health care treatment, cause no one knows your body better than you do.  I know your sister probably told you that Pancreatitis is the worst gut wrenching belly ache you will ever experience. I believe it is much worse than labor pains. Anyway, I guess I'm doing better because the doctor would not have released me from the hospital if I wasn't, right?  I continue to have the pains when I eat (actually drink broth).  The pain goes right to my back.  I get very naseaus (spelling?).  The good news is the procedure got rid of the pain in my right side, so hopefully I'm on the road to a speedy recovery.  Thank you for your input and concern.  Take care and I hope they get to the root of your problems before too long.  Have a GREAT day!

wow, I am going through similar problems as we speak.  I had horrible gallstone attacks during my pregnancy  so two weeks after my daughter was born, I had my gallbladder removed. This was late march.  Now I am having attacks again with no gallbladder.  I went to the emergency room with the same dull intense pain in my upper right part of my mid section, tightness and pain in stomach and back, penetrating through my shoulder blades, feeling like I was possibly going to throw up.  They did blood tests, xray, ultrasound and found nothing!  the guy that wheeled upstairs to get the sonogram even suggested that maybe it was in my head.  NO WAY!  now I am thinking maybe an ulcer?  they found no lose stones that may have been left behind..... it is definatly frustrating.   I am hoping that when I follow up with my primary care doc we can figure this out.  Hang in there.

Hi - I had an ERCP with Sphinterotomy on Wedensday.  I spent the next two days in the hospital with Pancreatitis.  Even though the procedure went "remarkably well", I ended up with the Pancreatitis.  It was a good thing that they kept me overnight for observation because the Pancreatitis hit at 11pm.  Boy what a gut wrenching pain that it.

Anyway, the reason why I am writing is to suggest that you back off on your diet.  I am currently on clear liquids.  Although I'm still having pains I can't imagine what the pains would be like if I took regular food.  Tootina, you said everything this you eat gives you pain.  Try to change your diet to a low fat one and see if that helps.  Once you have your gallbladder out some people cannot continue to eat what they want.  Unfortunately, I believe I'm going to be one of these type of people.  Hope this information helps you both.  Take care and best of luck Tigger1 with your gastro doctor.  Have a GREAT day!

Thank you!!  I will not give up -- as I said -- The surgeon thinks that it is probably an ulcer -- but I will wait to see the GI Dr. and hopefully he won't pull my chain .. I have three small children at home (5, 3 1/2, and 4 months old).... I can't keep feeling this way all the time - I need to find the problem and fix it .... Thanks again for your input.

YES, I AM ILL EVERY TIME I EAT AFTER HAVING MY GALLBLADDER IN FEB.2001. I HAVE WENT THE GI ROUTE WITH MRCP,ERCP AND YET TO FIND THE PROBLEM. ONE THING SUGGESTED IT COULD BE IS BILE DUCT SPASMS. THE PAIN RADIATES OVER THE BILE DUCT RT. QUAD PAIN THAT RADIATES AROUND TO MY BACK EVEN UP TO MY SHOULDER. THE OTHER SUGGESTION IS EVEN CHRONIC PANCREATITIS. THE GI DOCTOR IS THINKING I HAVE IBS...NO WAY...NONE OF THIS SYMPTOMS HAPPENED BEFORE THE GALLBLADDER REMOVAL. IN FACT, MY GALLBLADDER WAS VERY ENLARGED AND HAD A DIFFICULT TIME REMOVING IT LAP. I ALSO HAVE A VERY ENLARGED BILE DUCT AT THE TIME OF THE GALLBLADDER REMOVAL THAT NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN...GOOD- LUCK AND DO NOT GIVE UP ...YOU ARE HAVING PAIN FOR A REASON!!!!
