(bowel)

My symptoms: pain on right side under rib that radiates to back (approx. 3 months), constipation and sometimes diarrehea (goes from one to another), nausea. There is mucus in the stool.

tests done:
1) ultrasound was normal
2)upper GI was normal
3) blood work was normal

Questions:
1) what do my symptoms indicate I may have?
2) do I need to be concerned?
3)I have researched many things dealing with the bowel and i can't seem to find one that matches my symptoms????

Have you ever researched irritable bowel syndrom??  Its the most commonly diagnosed intestinal problem, and its usually only diagnosed when someone has symptoms like yours, but all medical tests come out normal.  The mucus is common in irritable bowel syndrom as well.  You should look it up on the net.  Its also known to cause alternating constipation and diarreah.  Its not life threatening, but it can be a really annoying and painful.
