Thank you Deb for your comments. I am set up for the CT scan next week I will let everyone know. If all is well with that test I am going to take your suggestion and have an HB scan. sincerely..Lisa
I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder, spleen, etc. While it didnt show any stones, my specialist told me that the ultrasound was not totally reliable in detecting gallstones or problems associated with bile ducts.
I would recommend that given your symptoms, you ask your doctor about a hepatobiliary scan or "HB Scan". You lie on a table fully clothed, they inject you in the arm with a radioactive isotope so that they can locate everything on the monitor...then they inject you with what my test person told me was a "hamburger"...it is a fatty substance to see how your gallbladder reacts. It showed that my gallbladder was functioning at 2.6%!!!
It is now five weeks after my laparoscopy of my gallbladder. I still have mild bouts of nausea and some pain in my chest through to my back (which I have only had since the surgery). My doctor put me on Prevacid for the next week or so to see if that helps with the other symptoms...I have been feeling better...so I believe I am still healing.
Please let me and the others know what you find out and best of luck and prayers to you!
By the way...I am a 36 year old mother of five!! Fluctuations in hormones can cause gallbladder problems. I had NO stones or other abnormalities of my gallbladder...just a constricted bile duct.

A ct-scan will detect any tumors or abnormal growths or stones...I have had at least 10 of these. They are painless and usually over within a few minutes..depending on the type of scan being done.
They will inject you will a dye that will help anything show up and you will have to drink a milky substance the night before and the day of the scan. (it doesn't taste that bad).
I would make sure they check your liver too..I have liver disease and i have pain in the same area..Upper right Quadrant..with it swinging around into the back.
All the best and keep me posted!
thank you both for responding! I am set up to get a CT scan October 2. I'll post the results!! L.G.
IT SEEMS THEY HAVE DONE SEVERAL TEST THAT ARE RECOMENDED FOR THE SYMPTOMS . DID THEY CHECK YOUR APPENDIX ? AND THE RIGHT SIDE UNDER THE RIB CAGE COULD BE GALLBLADDER OR POSSIBLE LIVER PROBLEMS.ASK THEM IF THE HAVE CONSIDERED CHECKING FOR LIVER DAMAGE. I WISHED I HAD MORE ANSWERS BUT ALL YOU CAN DO IS KEEP SERCHING AND IF NEED BE HAVE ANOTHER GASTRO/DIGESTIVE SPECIALEST TO DO ANOTHER COMPLETE WORK UP ON YOU .BELIEVE ME I HAD TO GO THROUGH MANY DOCTORS AND SPECIALEST BEFORE GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THINGS .DON'T GIVE UP YOU KNOW YOUR BODY BETTER THAN ANY ONE.BEST OF LUCK.
