constant pain

I have had pains in what appears to be my stomach for over 9 months although doctors said it could be in other areas. I can not lay down in a bed and must sleep sitting up as if I lay down the pain gets far worse. Pain is constant day and night although degree varies from a 1 to 10. Can not eat solid foods. Eat mainly ceral, bread, crackers and such.  Have been tested -CT scat, colorosopy, endoscopy, blood tests and untra sound. Nothing shows up,but condition continues and seems to be getting worse.Pain medication has been increased from low end to diladid.Three doctors are puzzled. Have a new baby and this has caused me to miss out on being with him work, etc. Any idea of others tests I can take or what this might be? All doctors I have seen are confused and this is their field. Thank you for your time in this rare issue.

The Node had showed up when she was put into the hospital for the flu in may 2005 it was on the scope pictures but who ever read it, read wrong, and not this hospitals first time in there mistakes, my mom record from her cancer specialist that was givin to us. (if only the doctor and hospital would have seen the symptoms.. So many doctors and hospitials play with peoples lives and laws must be changed..why does a doctor become a doctor in the first place to save lives one would think but the power and love for money has blindsided there practices and the care for the person is assembly line medicine and that is a sad day for many. thank you for your concerne.. and pray for my mom please..    Final Diagnosis presented to the Family:

Hi Breeze  So sorry about your mother's diagnosis , but really, most often with lung cancer , by the time the patient has any symptoms , the cancer is already  in stage 3 or 4 .
Your mother's story about late diagnosis is  so very common,  it really is typical with lung cancer.

It often doesn't show up on a chest x ray, and even is missed on ct in the earlier stages.  The symptoms are so subtle at first,  they are often easily passed off as being related to something else.  But even if lung cancer is caught at this time ---it is often too late . Lung cancer is a particularly deadly cancer.

When did they first  find the lung nodule?  It says in your mother's  report  History: lung Nodule. Weight loss. Dysphagia - Comparison: Chest X ray . Lung nodules should be closely watched.

Here is a website you should check out if you haven't already . http://www.healthboards.com/boards/index.php?  It has a lung cancer message board for patients and families.  If you read the posts, and read through the archives,  you will see so many stories similar to your moms.  It discusses treatments , as well as offers support.   Again , sorry about your mom .

Please get your thyroid checked. I went through the same thing seven years ago, and the agony is unbelievable. Having a baby can throw your thyroid off kilter and cause hypothyroidism, although my problem was not caused by that.  In some parts of Africa they give women a tight necklace to wear, and when they develop a goiter and the necklace breaks, they know they are pregnant! The tests are TSH, T3 and T4. They are simple blood tests, and at least you will know that you can eliminate hypothyroidism as a cause. Please see my earlier thread down below.

You have had a pretty comprehensive GI workup.  The CT, upper and lower endoscopies and ultrasound would evaluate for most of the GI disorders (i.e. GERD, ulcers, liver disease, gallbladder, pancreatitis etc.).

You can consider more specialized testing to evaluate for things like low gallbladder ejection fraction, or esophageal motility disorders.

To evaluate the first condition, a HIDA scan with CCK stimulation can be done.  Those with low gallbladder ejection fractions may benefit from a cholecystectomy.

Esophageal motility studies can be done to evaluate for motility disorders, which may atypically lead to your symptoms.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician - or in conjunction with a second opinion.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
