fatty infiltration of the liver

I have been diagnosed with fatty infriltration of the liver. My question is," should there be pain with this condition?" It is just a mild ache under my right ribs and goes around to my back.
It happens within minutes after I eat. I do not consume alcolol at all, I am about 20 lbs. over weight and have lost about 6 lbs in the past 6 weeks. I am on a low fat diet.  My doctor recommended "Weight Watcher" , but at this time I cannot afford it.

                  Thank you

Hi
Thanks for your comment on fatty infiltration of the liver.
I was having severe pain that in the past has been diagnosed as
a  hyenial hernia (sp?) The Doctor was almost sure that the hernia was acting up again, but decided to order an ultra sound in case it was my gall bladder.  The liver problem was found as a result of that ultra sound. This was the only test ordered, do you know of others? Of course, the pain was my hernia, for which I take Prilosec.

                     Thanks again

I think the best kind of liver cleanse is to eat lots of fresh natural foods and drink lots of water.   Be kind to your body and liver.  Stop eating "fast food" and convenience foods.  Big food companies are in the business of making profits and they add cheap ingredients like sugar, corn syrups, partially hydrogenated oils to many of the foods that you buy.
Take you time and make one small change in the way you eat per month.  For instance, the first month you can decide to stop eating french fries.  Second month, try making a pizza at home.  It is cheaper than getting it from Pizza Hut or where-ever. With each change you make you will find that you have gained a little more energy and you will be more willing to make a few more changes.
    Good luck.

She has problems with her "credentials" for one thing....for another thing she makes alot of false claims (like cleanses "cure" a plethora of illnesses)...like her shock treatments etc. cure cancer, AIDS, Hepatitis.....and she's got some Wrongful Death Lawsuits against her.

I figured you'd check into what you promote so much. But like the post you made below about liver transplants, and cured....you seem to know no 'details'.

Just in charge of copy and paste I guess.

"Dr." Clark has alot of legal troubles.

"Patriot" repeatedly recommends Hulda Clark's 'cleanses' anyway, without any kind of warnings.

Seven months ago, I had an abdominal ultrasound that showed fatty infiltration of the liver.  I have had a dull pain in my right side under my ribs for years and years.  After doing some research I found out that there are two kinds of "fatty liver".  One kind, known as fatty liver does not cause inflamation of the liver.  The second kind, Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) is inflamation of the liver with the accumulation of fat in the liver.  I think the only way the doctors can tell the difference is with a biopsy.  I had the biopsy and the doctors diagnosed nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.  The National Institute of Health is doing a Clinical Trial on this disease.  (Testing a drug to treat it.)  You could go to the website Clinicaltrials.gov and do a search on fatty liver and they have posted some information about the trial there.  There is also a good webite called www.gastro.com and do some searching on their site to see some good information about liver diseases.  I don't think a lot of the doctors are up to speed on NASH yet.

I, too, cannot tolerate any fatty food and also have that same pain....oh, for a slice of pizza!  The doctors don't seem to know why...all my tests came back normal. I had my gallbladder taken out years ago and if I remember right, this pain is very similar to gallbladder pain. I seem to have spasms in the area of the common duct. If I eat a meal high in fat, I bloat severely and the pain is worse and lasts for hours. I also have noticed that stress increases the pain too.  I'm not overweight but I am losing on this diet..How could you not!! How did the docs diagnose you with fatty infiltration of the liver...what tests did they perform?.........Aniee

Hi,
Sounds like fat intolerance,  my Doc says the dull ache is something I will just have to put up with  if I eat food containing fat.    Like you I'm over weight.
Stick to a low fat / no fat diet and you will find like myself -
you will shed a few pounds.
I agree its not nice eating dry bread in sandwiches, black tea / coffee, no chocolate -- the list is endless, but if it works
so what.
The ache never gets any worse, just the time it lasts for.
Again this depends on how much fat I have eaten.
Dont worry, and dont waste money on diet clubs.

An ache under the right ribs that goes around to your back ("wrap around pain"), especially after eating----sounds more like a biliary problem.
Try staying away from fatty foods, fried foods, oily foods---and see if that helps.
