my husband was diagnosed with h. Pylori about 6 years ago, his doctor perscribed him antibiotics yet they didn't seem to work. Since then, he had moved around a few times and didn't have a doctor anymore. Recently my doctor took him on and he has been very sick again, so he was again tested for the H. Pylori and it came back positive. She perscribed him some meds and now he feels even worse, he feels like he is dying, can't eat, can't sleep, having trouble working lots of pain, anyway he went back last week and got more blood work done, it came back positive and the nurse I spoke to said the test showed 57. Well like I'm supposed to know what a number means, so I asked her what is this suppose to mean, and she responded that the normal is 15 so because he is at 57 he has a severe case. That was that. So he has 57 what. So now we between a rock and a hard place and don't know what to do. He see's a specialist at the end of the month, but he can't wait that long, he really feels like he is dying, he has been losing weight rapidly and it just seems our doctor doesn't seem to care. does anyone else know what may be happening and what these numbers mean?
My fiance had the h pylori test done also, tested positive and took the prevpac. Same thing happened, couple months later, the stomach pain is back again, and he even gets to the point of vomitting. He had the endoscopy done, but the doctor who did it said he didnt see any reason to test for the h pylori again, just some mild reflux going on. So, now he is getting worse, doctors recommended having a ultrasound done on his gallbladder, he is at his witts end .... sick of being sick all the time.
The problem is that your blood can be positive for H. Pylori for months after is eradicated. The best way to know is to do endoscopy after the treatment,or breath test if there is place you can do it in your area. The problem is that not many doctor will test you after the treatment, unless the symptoms come back.
My husband was treated, they didn't want to test him after and now he has pain again,so he has another endoscopy scheduled.

yes a blood test will! really all they have to do is ***** your finger and put a drop of blood on this little device, and if two dots show up its positive and if one dot its negative.
