no meds are working please help

i have gerd and no meds are helping with the nausea and aches in stomach.could it be more than gerd?i had an egd done to diagnose gerd but could something have been over looked?what else could cause nausea and bad aches in stomach that feel like they go to my back?im really worried please help!

Did your G.I. identify your physical cause to GERD with a good resolution ?

BELIEVE ME, I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH AND IT STINKS. I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS MEDICATIONS FOR GERD AND HATED ALL OF THEM. WAY TOO MANY SIDE EFFECTS FOR ME. I HAVE ATYPICAL GERD SYMPTOMS, THAT IS, I HAVE NO HEARTBURN, ONLY NAUSEA, VOMITING, CHEST PAIN, BLOATING, BELCHING. THE PAIN DOES RADIATE TO THE BACK, MOSTLY LEFT SIDE. HAVE HAD 17 DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. CARDIAC WORK UP, PULMONARY, GI, INCLUDING PH MOTILITY PROBE, GASTRIC EMPTYING, UGI, ULTRASOUND, HIDA SCAN. I EVEN WAS TESTED FOR ALLERGIES. THE ONLY THING THAT SHOWED UP WAS GERD. I DO BELIEVE THIS CAN CAUSE SO MUCH DISCOMFORT AS I AM AT THE POINT OF REFUSING ANY FURTHER TESTING. IT IS WHAT IT IS. NOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT???? WENT TO A GREAT HEALTH FOOD STORE AND THEY SUGGESTED ORANGE PEEL EXTRACT. NEW, ALL NATURAL PRODUCT WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS TO TREAT GERD. AM TOTALLY CONSIDERING IT. ALSO, TRY CHEWING PAPAYA TABLETS TO HELP WITH DIGESTION. I AM ABOUT TO TRY OTHER OPTIONS. DR.S NEED TO REALIZE THAT MEDICATIONS ARE NOT THE ANSWER FOR EVERY PATIENT!!!! GOOD LUCK TO US BOTH. LOL.

Would a ultrsound show if indeed the heart was having trouble and this would cause GERD.
I was told chronic GERD, REflux, are the symptoms of a physical cause ?

There are many things besides GERD which cause your symptoms. In fact, most pts with GERD do not have the type of abdominal pain you describe. Pain that radiates to the back should be further evaluated by your physician and the laboratory tests suggested above and then some are essential. There are also vascular disorders relating to the large blood vessels in the abdomen that can produce similar symptoms. The more advanced your age, the more of a possibility that is. Thank you for your suggestions about my father in law.  I am sorry to find outthat you too are suffering.  Have you ever been checked for pancreatitis?  Are you diabetic? Thereis also another disease called Addison's disease that might be worth investigating.  I would also check out the possibilities of gastroparesis which can be very painful, cause excessive weight loss, vomiting, nausea, etc.  It's so sad to hear about so many people suffering lik this.  I hope you will be able to get some help.

no whieght loss and im on metoclopramide.before that i was on prevacid.

I can only speak from what my G.I. has done, The blood work and stool sample can show ulcer,parasites and much more.
I too have had no diarreha unless on a medication.My primary concern would be pain after meals and heartburn too.
Have you lost weight ? What meds are you trying ?

no i do not have diareah.and no bloodwork has been tooken.what will the bloodwork rule out?thank you for helping me.

I am sorry to hear you too are suffering with abdominal pain.
What medications and tests did you have ?
I had the upper G.I. and ultrasound and no help from Nexium 40 mg for 6 weeks.
I have lost 15 lbs and find gnawing pain before I eat and sour stomach with pain for 3 hours after a small meal.
peanut butter on a banana and Cream of Wheat are helpful
Heartburn to all veges and anything elce. Sore throat and heat in the upper chest.
Have you found relief with over the counter medications ?
I was told the Ct and or the MRI are good tests with contrast.

Do the pains in your abdomen and your nausea seem any better or worse with eating?  Have you experienced any weight loss?  Have you been having any diarrhea?  Other than the egd test, was any bloodwork taken to check your amylase and lipase levels?  What kind of meds were prescribed?  Sorry for all the questions, but sometimes more information is needed to properly suggest what other causes could be.  I hope you'll post again with the answers to these questions.
