pinching pain, left side below stomach nearly all the time!!

I have a pain on my left side only. Never on my right.
It closests to my hip bone. The pain is sharp but pinching-like, as if something is being stretched or pulled. The area is very localized. I thought it may be strained abdominal muscles but it has not gone away plus it happens when I use the bathroom also. I am worried because my grandmother died from colon cancer. I have had a upper GI and nothing was found. It is getting more and more annoying because it won't go away. Gas sometimes makes it worse,..not always. I have a lot of "fast bowel movements" nothing stays in my stomach too long.
ANy suggestions? I would greatly appreciate them. I tried medicine for irritable bowel syndrome...caused major constipation..tried every gas, acid stomach medication on the market! thanks

I have had some of the same symptoms.  Seems like a crampy pain above my left hip, comes and goes.  Sometimes it goes into my back.  Have also had diarhhea which is more severe than it used to be, have always had loose stools.

I have gone to a regular physician and she wants to rule out food allergies such as wheat and lactose. I have tried leaving wheat out of my diet for a few days but only have a reduction in gas. So I don't think it is that. Next is the lactose. She also thinks it may be IBS.but is not sure. The pinching she says may be my bowels cramping?  ..
Seems weird still because it's just in one specific area. I will see how it goes. Thanks for the replies..they help alot.!

i had the same pain two years ago. because i had a history of cysts in that area, my primary care physician referred me to my gynocologist. physical exam in the area was uncomfortable to painful. blood tests, sonograms, etc. revealed nothing.  my myn performed an endoscopic exam of my uterine area and discovered that adhesions from a c-section i had in delivering my daughter over 20 years ago, had wrapped around parts of my bowl - which was causing the pulling, severe pinching feeling.  he removed those sections of the bowl along with the cysts that were present and i experienced immediate relief, very minimal post operative bleeding (due to the type of procedure used) and was back on my feet within 48 hours. the procedure was done outpatient in-hospital under sedation.  hope this helps.

Jenni,

I have that pain but it is on my right side.

Sometimes mine is by my hip or up under my rib cage, or

sometimes it is the whole right side. The pain will sometimes

  go down my leg.

the pain reminds me of when I was a kid and

was running I would get this pinching in my side.

My Doctor has tested my liver, gallbladder, ovaries,

and pancreas. Everything has came back fine.

A few weeks ago I found out my Father has cancer so

this is even scaring me more!
