rectal prolapse problem

hi doctor

since was a kid i have had many stomache issues, i beleive alot are herditary but whenever i eat big meals or alot in one day i get very gasy and have big messy bowel movement..i also cannot eat dairy..anyhow i also worry alot which makes my stomache upset in which has always cause me to use the bathroom alot..needless to say i have put alot of strain on my rectum...i guess i always thought is was normal but when i have a big bowel movemnt alot of times my rectum i beleive comes out and i have to manually push it back in..this does not happen every time i defecate but when its alot especially if i have been holding it in for a little bit this has happend for a few years i would say...sometimes if i have gone alot i feel the need to push out some clear mucous at the end the final bowel movement i assume this has to do with the prolapsing rectum, i always thought it was just a sign of cleaning out my system...i am a 27 year old male, i am seeing a gi specilaist soon...do you think this is a serious problem? can this issue get better or keep from worsening anyway withought surgery?  i read maybe  a high fiber diet or is there some kind of medicine i can take to help it....

thanks for all your help and any info you can provide me!

thanks for your help doctor, if i could ask you one more question does this sound like internal hemroids or piles or the above mentioned rectal prolapse...in my research it sounds like it may be some sort of protruding hemroid?....what are the main differences? if i can see veins in the prolapse is that more likely hemroids or the rectum...excuse my ignorance im not sure what a rectum would look like?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Rectal prolapse is an issue that may worsen over time if not appropriately treated.

A GI specialist likely won't be of help in these cases.  For more definitive treatment, a colorectal surgeon would be a doctor better suited to the condition.

I would discuss your cases with a surgeon, and discuss whether conservative treatment can be tried first before considering surgery.

A colonoscopy can be discussed in conjunction with a GI physician, to ensure there isn't any other condition present.
