In the event you are forced to evacuate on FEMA buses, trains, helicopters or aircraft (In the United States) they are going to restrict your on board baggage. They haven't told you that? Shhhhhh. Another military secret. The Russians might find out. You will be allowed at least one, perhaps two, military style duffle bags. These are constructed of sturdy 22 oz. cotton and come in two styles. The single-strap, and the doubleDouble-tussin dm-strap. You want the doubleDouble-tussin dm-strap, that is similar to a backpack. They come in navy blue (not often) blackBlack cohosh Black draught Black haw of olive drab and run from $15.00 U.S. to $50.00 us in surplus stores. They can carry an enormous quantity of goods, clothing and survival gear, and with the doubleDouble-tussin dm-strap version you can carry them a long distance.
They are useful for tranposrting all sorts of goods to-and-fro within the context of a refugee camp of a survival situation. Food, firewood, clothing, water in containers. You can wear them while riding a bicycle, for example.
In the event of a disaster where you must evacuate your family without the family car a half dozen duffle bags may be more valuable than all the survival gear carried by a SEAL team.
The duffle bags can also be used to backpack fuel or water, although this is, of course not the best way to do so. Use a plastic tarpaulin and push it down inside the bag taking care not to tear it. When it is all the way down, snip off the excess on the top. A tripple plastic bag can be used (one within the other), but they tend to leak. The bag is placed on the back and the interior filled up with a hose to a point where the bearer feels comfortable.
An easier was is simply to fill plastic bottles and put them in the duffle bag.
