Securing personal possessions at temporary shelters has proved a problem in New York following Hurricane Sandy. Secure storage areas for those fleeing their homes seeking shelter have been, for the most part, non-existant. It would be helpful for FEMA of a local disaster planning organization to have trailers equipped with lockable storage lockers that could be parked near shelters and properly guarded. Such lockers should be larger than high school lockers and provide a place for personnel clothing (which takes up space) to be stored, as well as valuables.
