Trimming Trees - Falling Branches

by caregiver222, Oct 15, 2009 04:09PM
During storms there is significant danger to homes and human beings from falling branches and trees.  Every year there are fatalities from downed trees and heavy branches. Be especially watchful and inspect the trees on your property after a heavy storn.

As part of every disaster preparedness plan, take a good look around your property to identify trees that should have branches trimmed or be removed. Identify foliage that should be cut back to provide a fire-break and check with local authorities as to whether or not you need permission to create such a break.

I am not going to provide "tips" on tree pruning or felling trees. This work can be extremely dangerous, and should be left in the hands of an insured, professional tree-trimming and removal service.

It is difficult to judge which way a tree will fall when brought down, even for an experienced woodsman. Money spent on a professional tree-trimmer is money well spent.
