Water Purification Tablets - Flavoring

Water purification tablets should only be used when boiling water is unavailable. They should be
dropped in a canteen and allowed to work for at least an hour. Because they make the
water "taste funny", most campers bring along some sort of powdered flavoring,
such as Tang. Do not put the flavoring into the canteen because it significantly degrades the ability
of the tablets to kill bacteria. Instead, pour the purified water into a cup and then put
the flavoring into the cup.
