Divorce

My wife and I have been married over 25 years. Our two children are full time students in college. My wife has bipolar disorder and now collects Social Security Disability. Our two children and I have applied for MediCal. The share cost is about 1,250 dollars per month for MediCal. I take care of my wife. I also have serious health problems but have no way to pay for heath care. Should I separate from wife of 25 years so I can obtain health care? I have applied for Social Security Disability but this takes 3 to 6 months and wait for 2 years for Medicare.

This is the most difficult decision that I have ever had to make.

Sadly, I have heard of couples who divorce because they cannot pay for medical care any other way.  You might talk to an attorney or legal services clinic about the problem.

I am not a fan of a drastic step like that to beat the system.  good luck
