custody

has anyone here ever seen or had a successful 50/50 every other week custody arrangement? Even during the school year?

I know someone who shares 50/50 custody with their ex.  The little girl has a bedroom at both homes and spends every other day and weekend with each parent.  Unfortunately, the little girl is a brat and acts out all the time, they think to gain attention.

I wonder if she isnt acting out due to the custody arrangement. How old is she? Seems to me like she may be better if they went at least a week at a time instead of every other day. That's hard on a child.

do you live next door to each other? same town? it seems that it would be good for the parents terrible for the child, i think the child would be confused about where they would be from one day to the next. been through custody issues its the hardest thing in the world to let go of what you want and give i for the childs sake. but if thats what needs to be done then one of you has to be the bigger person, it will pay dividends in the end

I have been divorced for over 10 years now my kids were 2 & 7 when we divorced it was ugly but we did agree on 50/50 split in custody. Week on week off. The hardest part has been the last few years, he met a wonderful women who lived in another state & they wanted to get married. He came to me & asked if I would be willing to move, I had no reason to stay where I was, not married & no family other then my children. So I put in a transfer at my job & moved 6 months later. Luckily things looked up for me & I found the love of life & am now married. But he owned a home 30 miles north of where my ex & his new wife live (upside down so can't move closer, plus where my ex lives the homes are way out of our price range), so I see my children less & less because I agreed to let them stay in the school district near him (which is a better school district then where I am) but it breaks my heart every day that I don't have them 50% of the time anymore. My son will be graduating High School next year & I am pushing to have my daughter come live with me but he's fighting now... Basically it can work but you need to live close enough in order for it to work until the kids are out of school. And sometimes that is not always an option...
