the waiting game

by doggylove, Nov 02, 2009 06:32PM
I am 26 and planning on leaving my husband. I have been trying ot gather money and paperwork that I think might be important. Right now he knows that I am thinking of leaving yet he doesn't want counseling........anyway. I wanted to know when to leave? I CANNOT take it anymore but I am afraid that if ileave prematurly than I won't have money to support myself and He will hide things from me. Should I just leave now or wait until I et a lawyer and save more money. I am literally dying inside because he is absolutley soul sucking and he is taking my joy out of life but feel like I need to be more financially scure.

Also, I never worked (he didn't want me to) we have only been married for 4 years. Does anyone know the spousal support laws in CA?

I dont know about CA but here in MI marriages are catorised into short, medium or long term. Im gonna be honest with you for a 4 year marriage I doubt very much that youd be awarded alimony unless your physically unable to work,,I am in the middle stages of divorce and because we have been married 20 years this comming May I will be awarde alimony for 8.5 years I dont know the amount yet it will be between 200-500 per month.
Best wishes to you...You hace the legal right to stay in marital home until the very day divorce is final, perhaps you should think of that. could you lead seperate lives and exist under the same roof, as it sounds like you need a bit of time to get a job abd get on your feet?
