? incredibly early pregnancy signs???

hi there,

i have a neapolitan mastiff who is two years old and has just been artificially inseminated on the 17th and 18th ( we did two just to be sure) this is her first litter ( she is to be due around the 17th of august) Although it has only just been 9 days since the insemination we have noticed a clear discharge coming from all of her nipples and she has also had an occasional vomit. She has also been alot more clingy and tired than usual, but is still herself and showing no signs of distress. I know this is an odd question, but just curious as to whether or not this is normal, i have tried google-ing signs and symptoms, but all seem to say that there should not be any discharge until at least the fifth week of pregnancy.i'm hoping that it is just a case of every pregnancy being different, i'm just a tad concerned! Do i need to be concerned??? any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm afraid I have no "hands-on" experience with a pregnant dog, so am a bit at a loss too. From what I understand, dogs do have slightly different experiences.
Her symptoms are absolutely classic for early pregnancy. Dogs do experience the canine equivalent of "morning sickness" occasionally they vomit but most often they just go a little off food for a short time. They usually make up for this though later on in pregnancy. Tiredness and 'clinginess' is classic too, connected to hormonal changes. But I agree, it does all sound a little early at 9 days. It is usually as you say, later on that nipple discharge starts happening...(?)
I would ask your vet if you are unsure. Just give him a call. You may not need to take her in.
