11 year old Wolf Hybrid Pulled Muscle??? Please read

Nanook is our 11 year old wolf hybrid, she started to limp on her front left leg about 3 weeks ago. Just kinda favoring it a bit. We took her to the vet and he said that it was something called Elihcria (spelling) its a tick born thing. Anyway... he put her on antibiotics, and sent her home on baby asprin. I wasnt buying it... so I called another vet that we take our diabetic cat too. He took her in and checked her leg over SOOOO good.... Nanook didnt yelp or whimper at all, and believe me, he checked her over good... there towards theend, with 3 people holding her down she had had enough,  Xrays showed no more growth in her arthritis, and he seems to think that it is a pulled muscle. She is on prevecox and is being made to stay in the house light on her feet and on a diet.
The prevecox, I am assuming has made her lose her appetite in the past 3 days, she just wont eat dog food, but she will eat human food, and some treats. ( We have decided to stop giving her the prevecox after reading about the side effects)

She just doesnt seem to be getting any better, and I am just so worried and scared. If it is a pulled muscle, does that take awhile to heal? The vet said it could take up to 4 months.. Nanook is 75 pounds by the way. Her daddy and I just feel horrible.. she just CAN'T get comfortable!!!!!  
Any advice would be nice. Thank you.

I think you should post this question on the Ask a Vet forum here at Med Help.  Dr. Cheng practices holistic, Chinese veterinary medicine along with western methods.  I'm sure she'll have some great alternatives for you, and she generally answers questions within 24 - 48 hours.  Look on the right side of this screen under Related Expert Forums and click on Pet Health to post your questions to Dr. Cheng.  It's a free forum as Dr. Cheng volunteers her time and expertise to Med Help.

I've had plenty of experience in dealing with old, arthritic dogs of my own.  I'm not familiar with prevecox, but any anti-inflammatory med can cause tummy troubles.  Sometimes you can add pepcid or a Pepto Bismol tablet along with it and have no further problem.  Other times, you just have to try a different medication.  From my own experience, and that of my neighbors', I know that Etogesic is horrible for GI troubles, and never seemed to help much for arthritis pain however much the manufacturer said it was supposed to.  Rimadyl and Deramaxx had the least side effects.  In one elderly dog of mine, Tylenol worked great for about 3 years until we made the jump to Deramaxx.  Hope that helps a bit.  :-)
